Great job on a great song Murali!
Felt that the sangathi at 1:19 (vedaantamaakkunna) could be better, considering that you sang more difficult sangathis easily later in the song. Especially liked the swarams.

Hi Murali … totally awesome Murali!. The ease with which you sang the swarams was mind blowing.
You have excellent range in your voice and your quality of timbre does not get affected across it either which is a rare gift!. I was wondering if you did this same song with better recording of your voice would be totally awesome now.
The quality of the backing track was excellent but of course your voice was recorded many years ago so the quality was not crash hot which is understandable … your sangadhis were rendered with ease, delicacy and grace … smooth going!.
The only places which I noted which would have rounded it off as a near perfect rendition are:
2:42 was a bit off compared to its counterpart in 3:50. Also, in 6:02 after the swarams that sangadhi was teeny bit off. Rest was all fine to my ears.
This is mind blowing stuff from you!.

Thanks guys. this was recorded in those days when I did not have the luxury of recording in multiple takes. So, there may be some mistakes or uncertainties. Nonetheless, I believe it is important to practice this way.

Excellent singing as always… Let me do a bit of nitpicking now…:) the diction of ‘LL’ at “saLLapame” was sounding very “tamilish”…
Great one Murali…

Murali … lighten up man! You did a great job for one take … totally awesome for one take!. By the way is it possible to have some ‘wet’ comments from you rather than just ‘dry’ ones?!!. Only teasing! Have a great day!. :-)

Today seems to be a treat on Mal songs – very nice pick, Murali and a good attempt too. Either bec of the rec being old or single take, you sounded a bit tentative/hesitant at some places compared to some of your renditions that i have heard. Also a bit of nasality creeped in, at sallapaME… Swarams were delivered very well and you sounded so at ease, as usual, at the higher range.

Hi Murali… Very good attempt. It is clear that you have good classical base and passion to sing classical songs. I could only point out little sangathi’s missing in the rendering. Great Jesudas sang the song in the next pitch to the pitch you sang. I feel change over to higher pitch will make lot of things better.
You have to give more Bhava to the song especially singing many places will be much appreciated like “Vedanaye polum Vedanthamakkunna” and some similar stances. The first & Repeat of “Adhimachaithanya” and “Omkaranadhathil” are different.Hear the song more time and perfect it. your Swaram rendering have come out very well. The song has come out nice taking into account of the recording standard.
All the best……….
