Right Here Waiting For You (Richard Marx)

Lyrics & Chords

She walked away into the distant horizon… My eyes gazing… Trying to catch a last glimpse of her… “This would be the Last I see of Her…. The Last… Goodbye…”, I said to myself and turned back on my way……….

This song by Richard Marx (1989) is one of the greatest Love Ballads of all time.

The way the song emotes Love and Pain at the same time is brilliant – with Mind-blowing music and terrific words.

Very similar to Summer Of 69 , this song too brings back lots of memories – some good ones, some not so good ones.

But at the end of the day – after whatever may have happened – when I put on my headphones and turn on this song, it soothes and heals from within like anything.

This rendition of mine had been pending for a long time – the past 7 years! And here it goes today – dedicated, again, to all those people who came in to my Life, including those who walked out, and brought about some change in Me because of which Life seemed different thereafter.

I was in two minds before starting off as to whether the tone should be painful or romantic. But then – I just decided to do the natural. I Closed my eyes. Went back in time to where my Life was somewhat like this. And sang my heart out.

THANKS A LOT to my good friend Kris D’Souza (he’s not on Muziboo) who put in some great Guitar work throughout and lifted the overall feel of the song.

A SUGGESTION: If possible, dim all the lights, put on your headphones/earphones and listen to this one uninterrupted for the 4 mins or so that it plays.

Oceans apart day after day, And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line, But it doesnt stop the pain

If I see you next to never, How can we see forever

Wherever you go, Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes, Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted all the times, That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears… But I cant get near you now
Oh, cant you see it baby… Youve got me going crazy

Repeat chorus

I wonder how we can survive, This romance
But in the end if I’m with you, Ill take the chance

Oh, cant you see it baby, Youve got me going crazy

Repeat chorus

Vaisahli: Thank you so much for the comments…. Actually even I was debating with myself as to whether I should sing it in a painful manner or in a romantic way…. But then i thought… wat the heck! Let me just go back in time and sing it when I used to sing it for circumstances in my own life… and we’ll see how it comes out :)

Sai: Dude… thanks a lot for listenin to my song and for the rating…. the ‘but’…. u r rt…. BUT…. i was just a tad bit lazy to re-record, yaar…. so i let it be… :)

Hats off……Your elaborate preamble and the mood setting did not go in vain….you know what this rendition had at no point of time sounded like a desi one……superb modulations which were perfectly natural……so much more I wanna write man….a song when rendered as natural as this(as you have aptly decided to)it stirs the soul and it of course did……great stuff.

BTW,Hope this was heard by,whom you probably would have wanted to hear :)

full 5 !

Hi Bodhi, I just relaxed totally with this fantastic heart moving song and so happy I came to listen to this!. Your voice was good and your rendering was good. Voice could have been more in the front I felt … i.e. volume could have been higher for the nuances in the voice to be heard more intimately. What I felt is that your line endings were a bit bland in most cases and didn’t have the passionate finish to it. You have rendered it your way and in places you have deviated from the original with your way of singing … nothing wrong with this but I felt there are nuances in the original which are too awesome to ignore and would have been very good singing exercises if you had tried them.

In any case, well done and a good job and the song itself is too good on its own merit. Cheers.

Bodhi thanks for your message. Would love to check all your posts.

Yeah! after listening to summer of 69, tempted to listen to your English covers.
This song is always been the fav’s of many young hearts – for depicting both Love and Pain blended with excellent lyrics and music.

You really did do justice to this. Why not a 5 ?
Pl. keep posting more of such Eng. numbers.

Good Luck.

Arvind Sir, Thanks a lot for listening, liking and commenting on my rendition…. I agree I have deviated from the original, as you rightly pointed out…. but I guess that is how the song was always interpreted by me…. :) and as for the original nuances, i will surely look into them and try to replicate them in a re-do whenever possible…. :)

Rohin, Thanks so much for your feedback…… am happy that you felt i could do justice to it….and thanks a lot for the rating, too…. :)

Sutapa…. well…. goosebumps… thats exactly what happens to me when i listen to this…. but what i am really happy about is that its my version that’s given u the goosebumps… thanks so much :)

Firstly MANY MANY congrats on your new gear! This has turned out AWESOME!
Brilliant job Bodhi, spl mention to your diction, was simply mindblowing… and singing IMO was technically perfect.
However, imHo, I felt you sang this with a tad bit more energy than was required in this mellow number… Parts like ‘wherever’ (you go), ‘whatever’(you do) could be mellowed down a bit to give it the ultra romantic feel that this song has :) and the ‘I wonder how we can survive’ part cudve ben better, noticed a lil timing issue there…
but anyway, maybe it’s just me…
you are a very very talented singer! I always look out for your posts, am sure there are many more rocking songs to come :)
Keep Singing, Cheers!

You have a very good range Bodhi. You’ve sung this very well. 5/5 from me for this fab effort.

In terms of perfecting this, I think the modulations could be better to suit the theme of the song. You could sing certain portions softer. Timing at a few portions could be better. “Take the chance” could have been done using falsettos.

From a mix perspective, I felt the reveb could have been a tad lower.

Do listen to my uploads
