Rakendu Kiranangal - Avalude Raavukal - Saroj

Lyrics & Chords

First time I heard this song from my sister in law…
She used to sing this song all the time…
was afraid if I could do justice to the song…
but anyway decided to give it a go…

thanks to all my friends who encouraged and supported me sincerely… :)

Looking forward to your valuable comments and feedback…

Film: Avalude raavukal
Lyricist: Bichu Thirumala
Music: A.T.Ummar
Singer: S.Janaki
Cover and Mixing: Saroj
Translation courtsey: Giri

The song speaks about a simple girl who was forced by poverty to turn out to be a fallen woman and how her dreams got shattered by destiny….so I was told…. :)

and those who like the translation for this song:

The rays of the full moon- never did they glean
The blossoms of the night – never did they blink
Festooned with flowers are the cupid’s carnivals
Desert did they become the mind and the body
Bereft of sleep are they always

Her Nights

On that unsupported day
At a moment that she never even noticed
Quiet came the Time and on that wailing flower’s heart
Shot its playful arrow – and
Turned her out to be the horripilation
For the frenzied dance on the night’s bosom!

That destitute, unknown to anyone,
Mused on someone silently
Quiet came the Time and proposed as offering
That idol of adoration – and
Stood she that day as unable she was
To worship with savoured flowers!

Very nice rendition as always….Lovedit…

Giri ji…It was the Hindi song in the movie “Swami” which came first in 1977. This song in Avalude raavukal came later in 1978. In fact there was a big issue in the media (in those days) about the copyright violation on the song being lifted from Hindi and Rajesh Roshan , the original composer had even gone to the court…Dont know what happened to the case ultimately…

Listening a song not knowing about it leaves me clueless especially if it is a non-hindi song. I read your translation before clicking the play button, I realized right away it must be Giri Bhai….Lol….I enjoyed the controversy and had to check and listen the one in hindi….I had never heard that before either. The rest I would write the same as Gautam already wrote above. Gautam tum bhi kam nazar shanaas nahi….kiya achha hai khoob samajhte ho.

Sarojechee, is that you ?, You not only rocked, but hilled or even mountained, I would say !!!!!!!!!! Such a difficult song and you did it like lifting a flower, pushpam…not withstanding the minutest pitch or rhythm issues, cud have easily managed while mixing if u wanted…All the same this one is among your best ones !!!

Special congrats to Giri sir, I wonder if he is related to John keats !!! what a wonderful command of language !

Dear Chechi,

Beautiful song selection. It suited your voice well. I have heard this film name somewhere in my college days, as my friends used to talk about this film. Though I donno what is the actual story of the film. First time hearing this song in your sharp and beautiful voice :)…But I felt the scale was too high for you, would have reduced a scale. Nevertheless you sang flawlessly in this original scale it self…I appreciate your efforts Chechi!…Really feeling proud of you:)…Tc and this strong straightly goes to my all time favorites:)

Also special thanks to Giri ji for the beautiful translation of the song :)

Thanks & Regards
