Phir Dekhiye-comments from Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics & Chords
I heard this song for the first time after I joined Muziboo in 2009, sung by George Kuruvilla and I took a shot at it. Interestingly, my versions, then and now are based more on George’s, and not the original.
Recently there was a chance to send in an entry to the local radio show Gaata rahe Mera Dil which was having Shankar Mahadevan as the guest. It was announced that he would get to pick his top 4/5 favs and air it with his comments. So I decided to redo Phir dekhiye with Jay Swaminathan’s track and George nitpicked my draft and mixed the final one. I sent it in… No news whatsoever for 3/4 weeks and I had almost forgotten about it since there wasn’t much I could do :)
Meanwhile, I was invited to a “Meet Shankar Mahadevan” event hosted by the radio folks, and I had the chance to meet him and get complimented on my singing as well. Little did I know that he had already heard my radio entry and also recorded a feedback well before I met him. Nonetheless, it was awesome to meet him, and I was also very thrilled to get direct feedback from him regarding a couple of songs of mine he said he had heard. I was particularly impressed by how down to earth he was, and his ability to put someone at ease! Thanks to all fellow muzibians who tuned in and heard the show, and left me a feedback on facebook and by other means. Truly feel blessed for all the support and encouragement.
Thanks to my friend TT Balaji, who sent me snippets of the prelude and Shankar’s comments, I have mixed those to present the whole episode here. However, YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE RECORDING OF THE RADIO SHOW WITH SHANKAR MAHADEVAN HERE AS WELL". Fellow Muzibians Azam and Deblina were also featured on the same show :)
