Panniril nanaindha pookkal (80s)

Lyrics & Chords

I like this song for its lyrics and SJ’s singing. I think this was also the time when Nadhiya was very popular.

Movie: Uyire unakkaga? (not sure)
Original singer: S Janaki
Music director: Laxmikant Pyarelal (thanks Sukumar)

I have tried my best and as usual my recording/singing glitches are left as is (blame it on my laziness to correct/make it sound perfect). Towards the end of the first charanam, my singing appears rushed and not following the track – It did not feel so while recording but not sure if it is a mixing issue. As always, thank you in advance for taking some time to listen and comment.

Lovely tune, and sweet rendition, Uthra! Sounds like cute song. The start flute was a bit like Celine Dion’s Heart will go on. Your vocals are a bit upfront in the mix – the flute is getting masked… Also I felt 1/2 note could be reduced.

Thank you Sudha. I don’t think this is the original tune – indian restaurant kind instrumental track. Yes, it does sound like heart will go on :) Thanks for the honest feedback and I am smiling too after reading your comment :)

Uthra, the track was a distraction for enjoying your singing. Good singing!

Yep, the track is kind of an intrude but nicely sung Uthra. Great song. You took the la before and started with it again, which reminds me of how I used to record in the taperecorder, couple of decades back :).

very good effort. nice track and mix could have given a much more pleasant hearing…

Very nice singing – agree with comments above about the track. Also felt the pitch is a bit high. But your singing comes out very well.

i remember this song in my school annual day…one of my seniors (meharunnisa i guess)danced.i still remember the begining steps one leg down and one leg & both hands are waving back n forth…like flying in the air…she did it so well…

The music director is Laxmikanth Pyarilal…only… its mohan starrer film…All songs in this film are very nice… the other one i remember is “I WANT TO BE A BIG MAN” & “PADAMMAENNODU PADAMMA” & few more good songs…Laxmikanth pyarelal not seen in tamil films even after giving such a musical hit…All IR waves…;)actually he gave very refreshing music at that time.not like IR.
i think he composed one sarath kumar film after long…i remember a song “mayil thogai azhaithal”but dont remember the movie name…

i think you have sung with instrument track…its a gud idea…provided the mixing done well…:) use adobe… adithi kitta irukku vangikonga…:)

by the way your voice sounds very nice sweet and energetic…keep it up ji…

Rashmi, Vishnu: Thanks.
Sukumar: Glad that it brought back good memories from your school days. Mixing – is in experimental stage – this is the second one – more to come :) I have updated the director’s name based on your input. Two songs from this movie that you have listed here are familiar but not the mayil thogai song. Thanks for your detailed comments.

This was a classic of the 80s. And it has been so much remixed that as someone has rigtly observed it sounds like Celine Dion’s song in the beginning. The orchestration in the original was a class apart. You seem to making a habit of singing every song in one sitting Uthra. Good attempt.

Murali: Thanks. This was the only track I found and couldn’t resist posting this song knowing that the track was not the best. Sorry about that.

I love this song for its full-house orchestration and arrangements and of course, for Nadhiya… :-) And the prelude music has a blend of Celin Dion’s number… I would suggest you to record these yesteryears’ classics in a methodical way… Mixing artifact did spoil the party… But liked the way you carried this song, given its a single-pass recording… Also the expressions are to be take care of, which would decorate the songs further keeping all other technical ingredients intact… Noticed tempo mismatch towards the end… There are various tutorials available in youtube which can walk you through mixing techniques… Good work except for the mixing… :-) All the best to get in pace with the mixing gimmicks…

And the music director was only Pyarelal, I guess… Lakshmikant-Pyarelal didn’t work as a duo for any tamil movie, as per my limited available resources… :-)

Enjoyed this Uthra ji. Undoubtedly, it brought those sweet memories when I used to watch this Nadhiya’s song on DD. Love the other song ‘Nadhiya Nadhiya Nile Nadhiya Nadhi Poal Neliyum Nadaiyaa’ composed by Sir R.D. Burman. I guess the Hindi music directors certainly did make an impact here n there in Tamil movies too although Ilayaraja sir was the uncrowned monarch of Tamil empire in the 1980’s…. Appreciate you for bringing back those memories by rendering a very rare but popular song. Excellent pick…. Ur innocence noted @ 01:59 – Naa…. Naanum oar…. Mixing n track might have failed to make an impact, but ur voice and enthusiasm did impress…. Request you to hunt for such rare gems (songs) and illuminate the hearts of music lovers in future too…. Best wishes….
