Mayajalaka Vaathil - Vivahitha

Lyrics & Chords

You know what they say – read an old book to get a new idea. In the same spirit, uploading this Malayalam golden oldie by the trio Vayalar-Devarajan-KJY from the movie Vivahitha (1970). Had posted another gem by the same trio (Chakravarthini) few months ago.

The melody in this song is wonderful with simple yet effective arrangement with piano & strings. Vayalar’s lyrics talks about how sweet memories are a great companion for all of us, capable of magically bringing a smile to our faces.

Here is my attempt at this evergreen, beautiful song. Look forward to your feedback.

Kumar, beautiful song by the golden trio. Should have sounded more pleasant-this is not a melancholic song. If you had lowered the scale by a semitone, would have been better-the higher notes in charanams were strained. Anyway, enjoyed the song in your melodious voice. Congrats!

Wonderful pick, Kumar – your voice sounded a lot younger in this, but thought the highest notes in the charanam were a bit of a stretch and hence the minor problem at japicheriyumbol and its second equivalent? Mandasmitham was truly mandasmitham :-)
