Lyrics & Chords

Original singers of this duet: Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
Here is my rendition for both.
3 June 2013
This is a melodious duet in the beautiful Kalyan raga from the movie AANDHI (1975). The fine lyrics were by Gulzar and the lovely music was by R.D.Burman. The on-screen singers were Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar.

LYRICS (from Net)

Is Mod Se Jaate Hain
Kuch Sust Kadam Raste, Kuchh Tez Qadam Raahen
Patthar Ki Haveli Ko, Shishe Ke Gharaundon Mein
Tinkon Ke Nasheman Tak, Is Mod Se Jaate Hain

Aandhi Ki Tarah Udkar, Ik Raah Guzarati Hai
Sharamaati Hui Koi, Kadamon Se Utarti Hai
In Reshami Raahon Mein, Ik Raah To Wo Hogi
Tum Tak Jo Pahunchati Hai, Is Mod Se Jaati Hai
Is Mod Se Jaate Hain

Ik Door Se Aati Hai, Paas Aake Palat-ti Hai
Ik Raah Akeli Si, Rukati Hai Na Chalati Hai
Ye Sochke Baithi Hun, Ik Raah To Wo Hogi
Tum Tak Jo Pahunchati Hai, Is Mod Se Jaate Hain

Is mod se jaate hain – 2
(from this turning/junction the routes go)

Kuchh sust qadam raste kuchh tez qadam raahe – 2
(a few pathways that are slow, a few fast paced routes)

Patthar ki haveli ko, shishe ke gharaundo mein
(to mansions of stone, to houses of glass) (gharonda=nest)

Tinko ke nasheman tak, is mod se jaate hain
(to abodes of straw, there goes the way from this turning)

(1)Aandhi ki tarha ud kar ik raah guzarti hai – 2
(a way passes like a storm flying by)

Sharmaati huwi koyi, qadmo se utarti hai
(one passes beneath my feet coyly)

In reshmi raaho mein, ik raah to woh hogi
(among these silky ways, there must be one which)

Tum tak jo pahonchti hai is mod se jaati hai
(reaches out to you, leaves from this turning/junction)

(2)Ik door se aati hai, paas aake palat-ti hai – 2
one pathway comes from far, and it turns after coming near

Ik raah akeli si, rukti hai na chalti hai
one way stands alone, it neither stops or moves)

Ye soch ke baithhi hun, ik raah to woh hogi
(I am sitting here thinking there must be one way which

Tum tak jo pahonchti hai is mod se jaati hai
(reaches out to you, leaving from this turning/junction)
