Gaganavu Ello Bhoomiyu Ello (Kannada) - Cover by Sarada

Lyrics & Chords

Director Puttanna Kanagal left a treasure of 24 fabulous Kannada movies on various social subjects that mesmerized, intrigued and riveted film fans with much appreciation and delight. One such movie is Gejje Pooje made in 1969. Clearly, Puttanna was a genius who was 15 to 20 years ahead of his competition. The subjects he dealt with, the way he treated the various sensitivities and the conclusions he arrived at were always thought provoking. Several of his ideas were later modeled in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil movies. This song is picturized on Kalpana and Gangadhar in the backdrop of a vast expanse of Malenadu hills and valleys.

The song attempts to capture the new found ecstasy of the girl who just heard a very exciting and unbelievable message. She is on the top of the world and sings at the top of her voice.

This is by far the most difficult song that I have dared to attempt. The entire song is placed at high pitch and the aalaps were the most difficult to render beyond my voice range, testing the limits of my vocal cords. There is also a high energy and feeling of hope and excitement in the song that I could not afford to compromise. Once again, I learned that S.Janaki is an inimitable and extraordinary singer with a voice range beyond most singers. I enjoyed singing this brilliant composition and hope the effort is well worth it.

I am dedicating this song to Visali avre. She enjoys classic old Kannada songs and suggested that I sing some of those. Visali avre has been a steady patron of my Kannada songs since my Baanallu Neene and she has always been a constant source of encouragement and support for me.

@ Visali avre, Thank you very much. I truly appreciate it :)

Sarada, tumba chennagi hadidera……….a real test to the vocal chords :) very high pitched song and you have sailed thru brilliantly :)

First of all, on Amma’s behalf, I would like to thank you heartily for this lovely dedication! Her blessings to you! :)

It has been soooo many years since I listened to this lovely song! You brought back beautiful memories, Sarada! Fabulous singing! Only you can do justice to such difficult numbers. The pitch tests the robustness of one’s vocal chords but you brought in the feel inspite of that encumberance.

To favs of course! :)

Aaaahaaaaaaa!!! What should I comment on this, while doing whatsoever will just be an understatement?? Really a dreaded song placed at such a pace and pitch… Loved your glides and expressions… Only one thing, you may need to work on is the strength of higher notes… Voice went sharp at places… But I do know how torturous it is, to sing at such a scale… Lovely rendition and a nice dedication as well… Good Luck!!

somehow my kannada roots bring me back to listen to kannada songs, and Sarada, perhaps you are the sole Kannada singer here (ok Ananya has joined recently). Quality, and not quantity matters! Once again you have chosen a song many would not even dare to attempt, and as usual sung in your own effortless style! Hope to listen to more gems from Vijay Bhaskar’s stable in the future. I think VB was to Kannada music what Naushad was to Hindi music.

Absolutely fantastic singing. At the same time I must say that there is lot to improve. Please listen to Neha Nataraj who also has sung this song. I feel she has sung better at very high pitch. Of course nowhere near Janamiamma whom I always consider as my Goddess Sharada.

Sarada Pro user said

Ravi Kumar,
Thank you so much for your honest feedback. Janaki amma is my idol too and I agree with you, she is only equal to herself :-) I agree with you on my high notes. I will definitely work harder to improve.

I have heard Neha. She is brilliant and has amazing range. I feel she has a bright future and wish her all the best !!!
