Elladaru Iru Entadaru Iru - (Kannada Bhavageete) - Cover by Sarada
Lyrics & Chords
Karnataka celebrates Rajyotsava on Nov 1st of every year. As you might know, the state of Karnataka came into being on Nov 1st, 1956 by merging all Kannada speaking districts from Madras Presidency, Nizam’s Hyderabad dominion, Bombay Presidency and the erstwhile Mysore kingdom. As you might also know, Karnataka is the natural home for people speaking Tulu, Konkani, Kodava, Urdu and Beary languages. Further, there are also significant populations of Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam and many more who have enriched Karnataka’s rich cultural diversity.
I am dedicating this song for this Rajyotsava day.
The song was written by Rashtrakavi, Kuvempu and the music was composed by C. Ashwath. This is one of the most popular bhavageete typically sung for this occasion.
Kuvempu brilliantly invokes the pride of all Kannadigas by painting a colorful picture and showering flowery poetry on the state, taking us through the historical glory and the beauty of the nature touching upon Sahyaadri mountain ranges, Jog falls, Kaaveri river, sandalwood trees, Malenaadu hills and the sculptures of Hampi, BelgoLa and Belur. C.Ashwat who scored music for this song is another transformational personality in the world of bhavageete. He contributed immensely to popularize the genre of bhavageete and bringing non-film based music to mainstream in Karnataka.
