Been down with Rafi fever for a while now. But being a novice in classical music, I found it very difficult to even come close to imitation of his harkats in the songs.
Presenting to you one of his bests from Dosti. Tried to be dot on pitch and taken a few harkats my way as the original ones were pure classical based and way too difficult for me at the moment. Shall re-upload this one after getting a little trained on Hindustani.
Comments welcome…. but pls note that this rendition has been sung by an untrained singer :) For those who know classical, this song might be a piece of cake…. and like all of my other songs this entire song is recorded in a single take…. of course I do not remember the number of takes I took before this one :)

Though many people have rendered this song in this forum, every time when you hear this song the feel it gives is remarkable. You have done full justice to that. You were quite effortless in reaching the high notes.

@Anand: Dhanyavaad saheb…. this song is one of the best songs of past…. the scale…. the pitching…. the modulations…. the lyrics make it stand miles apart from the jhing-bang songs of today’s generation. So the aptness of word “evergreen” is very well justified….

This is an all time classic by Rafi Sahab…… Great start you had……. your rendition is quite commendable!! I appreciate your sincere efforts in maintaining the original mood…… very few if any can match the great maestro Rafi Sahab…. but that’s NOT what we are here for. Sounds like you enjoyed rendering this one and for the audience this rendition is also enjoyable. Your mixing has improved to a higher plane as well. Overall…… Great Job, Congratulations!! Loved it……

Agree with Madhukar ji here…. this is one of Rafi’s difficult song that includes even the start of it…. chahoon…. awaaz…. sada etc are just to mention a few words – hard and modulate to deliver…. however you sang it nicely Sunil bhai…. and it was a wonderful listen…. just keep sharing like that.
