Lyrics & Chords

This is a lovely song by Rafi saheb picturised on Dev Anand seated at a window seat in a moving train while stranger Waheeda Rehman happens to lie on the berth (the “upar wala”) just above him.Waheeda’s acting and expressions are hilarious and beautiful. The flute is used beautifully to convey the train’s whistle. The music by S.D. Burman is fabulous, and is set to the strains of a running train.

This is from the old film “Kala Bazaar” (1960) .

apanee to har aah ek toofaan hai
kyaa kare wo jaan kar anjaan hain
uparawaalaa jaan kar anajaan hain

ab to haske apanee bhee kismat ko chamakaa de
kaano mein kuchh kah de, jo is dil ko behalaa de
ye bhee mushkil hain, to kyaa aasaan hai

sar pe mere thoo jo apanaa haath hee rakh de
fir to bhatake raahee ko mil jaayenge rasate
dil kee bastee bin tere wiraan hai

dil to hai, isne shaayad bhool bhee kee hai
zindagee hai, bhoolkar hee raah miltee hai
maaf kar bandaa bhee ek insaan hai
