This duet is exquisite and beautiful and has a lovely, smooth flow. This was sung by Manna Dey and Lata in the film CHORI CHORI (1956) which starred Raj Kapoor and Nargis. Music was by the redoubtable duo Shankar -Jaikisan and lyrics were by Hasrat Jaipuri.

I have sung for both persons. Here is my rendition/version.

You have sung the following differently (may be you forgot the tune?)
1. ‘mujhe taron ke paas’
2. last two words of the first and second line of both stanzas.

Many thanks indeed!
You are a true perfectionist! Your points are correct.(However, it is taron ke PAAR and not PAAS) Even Lataji’s pronunciation of ‘paar’ is not clear.
As you have pointed out a couple of times, I am strongly guided by old listening memories, and that happens even after hearing the song a few times before singing/recording! Then I don’t even realize that I have slightly departed from some tunes. Luckily I don’t go besur and that is a grace!
You have asked a simple question about getting a female singer. The answer will be complicated and so I shall refrain from it!

PS: I can never really replicate any original song. At my present age, and also because of the double pneumonia I had when I was 15,my lungs won’t allow me now to sing two or three lines in one breath! I often cut even a single line! Of course, I practise pranayam etc and yet limitations are there!
