I like this song for the simplicity of tune and singing! You have captured all nuances perfectly aNNa. “Unakkaaga koovuthu” was so sweet! The high registers in charanams were done well. Slight offnotes in the song which can be discounted, bearing in mind the uncompromising feel :)

Thanks for the invite to listen to your song.
It is a nice song and I have heard it before in IR’s young voice in the movie and your song reminded me to revist and listen again to IR’s voice, which I did.

Of course it is unfair to compare to the original where a professional version has been composed and rendered, but I would offer the following comments for your post:

- could do much better and not to the IR standard in this song.
- a softer approach should be adopted to this song; your voice was rather heavy and coarse in the mix.
- softer emotions required for a more accurate rendition. Note how IR sings this song more closely and you will pick up the hints there.
- quite a few off-notes in your rendition, especially in the charanams.
- the finishing riff notes of pallavi and charanams are not crisp, especially the last note. You have to be more definitive in such places to finish the lines to the last note accurately.

Just my humble opinion as I think you have quite a bit of room for improvement in this song.

Your voice quality suits IR songs and it is wonderful that you are trying his songs … which even good singers cannot do as he is a monster composer and singer!. Especially note the folksy singing style that he adopts in most of his songs … it is something that he is born with and his upbringing of course … try to emulate that folksy soft touch and you will be ok with most of his songs.
