Pretty late here…. Better late than never…. Of late, everyone has started to pick amma songs… :-) Nice thought though…. A real assessment for shruthi perfection and strength at notes-delivery…. You had complete control over this un-plugged rendition…. ‘Vinnai Padaiththaan’ exhibited ur sore throat… It sounded so…. Not sure… :-) Higher notes brought nasality to the front… But too high for female singers to sing…. Being an unplugged version, I felt u could have incorporated some improvs of ur own which has been ur forte… Taking to my favs….

A rendition threaded through a vortex of soul stirring emotive music that touched not only the notes but also the … heart!. One could feel the energy of the crying heart as it exits the performer, only to envelop the surrounds and transform itself into high class chamber music fit for a ‘dharbar’ (To coin it as an “unplugged version” merely confirms the predicament of the 21st century that we live in!).

Well done Meera … you were expressive. If I were to suggest one improvement it would be to conjure up the singing from well below the larynx to give it more body, bass and the feel that goes with it. As it is, the tone is nice but the vocal production could borrow more of your inner resource rather than merely the aperture of your mouth (Hope that was endurable!).

I welcome more of your chamber music which by the way is fully plugged into the divinity points of our music.

Hi Meera,
I had come across this song when I was learning about ‘Kamaas Raagam’. At first the song hit me hard with the tune (thanks to ARR) and Unni’s voice, humbled me at once. Later while reading the translation of the song, it truly touched my soul.
I felt the depth of the lyric comes from its simplicity. One of the best written songs on mother ever, IMHO.
It was a pleasure to listen to it in your voice. Your vocal expressions are amazing, and that coupled with the quality of your voice, it was sheer bliss.
Thanks for such a beautiful rendition Meera.
