Great Voice and Rendition,….However when people sing Lataji’s songs , it gets tough….could hear some offnotes , felt you went for controlled singing, could be little openthroated but then again singing Lataji Numbers is a tough call ….wont talk about diction , hope it gets better with more practice….

Love this song! Really really nice singing. Felt the “ban” in bairan ban gaye nindiyaas could be better. Really liked your subtle improvs a lot (esp. bata DE mein KYA karoon at 2:40). Blended very well with the song.

Meera,
many off notes here and there, and I think you could have used a compressor as at some parts as your voice overshoots the track level wise. Even otherwise the track is very feeble and your voice and track seem differently placed and are not blended properly. The “ban” at each place seems uncomfortably sung :) Could have been lot better considering the fact that you can and have sung more difficult songs quite remarkably well.

Meera, this is one of Lataji’s classics. Yours was a very good attempt. All improvement areas are covered upstairs ….but this is a nice start. Please sing more of Lataji’s songs ….some songs which are on my favourite lists ….yet to be covered on Muziboo ….

Wonderful singing as always.

I also felt that some places the voice was not synchronized with the backing track.

This is the first time ever in any of your songs I could see some sort of mixing issue by your standards and benchmark set. Never has this happened before in your songs.

Here are the timings for you divine Chechi if you plan to reupload:
1.12-1.14 – Bataa De (Some sort of double voice came through here I am sure it is a mixing issue here)
2.40-2.42 – Bataa De (Same issue)

Also try to mellow the voice to suite the backing track Chechi as this song will sound superb in your voice with that one mixing change.

I loved your divine voice as always and am waiting for the song Tere Khayaalon Mein Hum which I know will be an IMMORTAL song in your DIVINE VOICE:)

I haven’t been able to get the backing track for that, but have you been able to get one?

Very very nicely done……but guess the volumes need to be adjusted….coz the mukhra is absolutely fine its only in the antaras the vocal volume’s too high…. but wallah what voice lady??? Very good…… some diction issues which might have caused the offs as others have mentioned…… I liked it…. Agree with Pradip a lil bit……

One of my favourites, and not an easy song to try. Small areas for improvement which others have already mentioned.

IMHO, I think you got down to recording it too fast! I am sure you will max this once you’ve heard it lots of times.

Do also try ‘Nainon mein badra chhaye’ – a Lata – Madan Mohan classic please.

Gowri Manohari is an intoxicating ragam. Some of the best numbers in the raga include:

1. kaNNa varuvaaya
2. gowri manohariyai kaNden
3. ponvaanam panneer thoovudhu (by IR…inspired by megha chaE)

Meera: This song has a lot of sustained notes. One thing that you may have noticed in some of the legendary singers renditions is the way they keep the listeners tied up even when they are singing just 1 note. 2 reasons:

1. Clarity of the note
2. the associated volume modulation

For example in kaadhal kavidhaigaL, the syllable “kaa” is stretched so much by SPB but you won’t be bored coz of the curve he gives in the volume.

You have done reasonably well in capturing the volume modulations. However, there are some off-notes like lut gaye sapne saare toot gaye, sabke aangan etc. It is ok to go for a lower pitch and deliver.

Also, the sangathi you give in “aangan jiyaa” is clearly carnatic.

Agree with Pradip that you have done better in other songs. but believe me, this song appears easy, but it ain’t.

Meera, the feel of the song is very very nicely captured.
But, for your voice I think a lower pitch might have been better. And the “ban” in ‘ban gayi nindiya’ I think is a little imprecise. There is one small note in between that seems to be left out. Since that line repeats throughout the song, can’t help noticing :)
And I think the vocal track is still a lot louder than the karaoke.

Fantastic singing in the antaras. I loved the first ‘Bata de mein kya karoon’ till I heard it when you came out of the first antara!

Well heard this song before, but only remember the mukhda…. you have sung this well, you maintained the feel really well, felt it was a bit high for your range.Experts have already suggested the areas of improvement.
