Should rank along with Kaatril varum geethame as one of your best renditions. Your high registers are excellent (kEtkudhE…adhu nallave kEtkudhe) and I am glad you have realized the power of your voice for opening up. You had earlier resorted to falsetto for high notes in some songs. Now, look at your rendition. It is bright, melodious has a subtle bass running along all the time.

Choosing a song is a battle half won. Delivering it smoothly, expressively and in your style makes it complete. As a friend and co-singer who has followed your voice for almost 3+ yrs, I am only surprised to hear your renditions get better by the day.

I am not sure if am the only one hearing pitching issues in this rendition……this is a tough song….almost 80% of sindhubhairavi is tough to render as the composer can pull out any note from anywhere among the twelve …….this is why while singing sidhubhairavi clarity in sangathi is very very essential……if the sangathi is not correct it will still sound sindhubhairavi….but the intension of the composer is mislead….in other words its a communicatian drop…….otherwise it should be an improvisation in a better way.

Brave and courageous attempt….but calibre like u have more to come out with. No doubt I enjoyed this. I just could nt stop my bad mouth. I will listen this couple of more times in my monitors.

Meera…. I continue to be smitten by your Kaatril, Kanda naal and Ninaiththu ninaiththu. Those are absolute landmarks.
I know this is a heavy and sullen song, and its important to convey the melancholy- even so, I felt this could be better w.r.t energy level. I also did find some minor off key in hitting the upper shadjamam.
“Ketkudhe” as has been pointed is very well done! But it finishes off in a hurry….
But I can clearly see one big plus in this rendition: ease. You scale the high notes with such ease and your singing flows freely. I was huffing and puffing as I was doing this song :) Hats off to you for that.

Meera … A very nice challenging number and I very much appreciated your rendition. I heard it via my studio monitors and will try to keep it to the point.

1. Vocal volume not enough to really appreciate your singing. It is well overtaken by the rhythm.

2. Couldn’t get most of the lyrics … felt that you glide through the lyrics rather than pronounce them well. Imagine if you were the first singer to sing this song … will people have got the lyrics?!. I doubt it!.

3. Totally agree with Maruthi regarding Sindhubhairavi. It’s an amazing raga with potential use of all 12 notes and only the composer knows what he is doing in some places!. Not easy to transcribe!. I did hear some aberrations in some sangathis. With this raga it is tricky and you can be convinced that it is all OK. It’s to do with the changing major and minor scales and not easy to sound flawless and your rendition is no exception. I suspect even original recordings in this scale are massaged to perfection finally!.

4. Needless to say that your singing talent is well above par but you are underplaying your hand. It seems to me that you are concentrating on ‘getting it right’, rather than letting yourself go. Would much prefer vibrant singing with issues rather than subdued cautious ones … that is just me!.

Bottom line: A complicated song that has been rendered very well with caution, but lacks crucial vibrancy.

I see above a lot of mixed feedback. But honestly, I felt it was superb. I couldn’t find any of the msitakes mentioned above. Murali has sung his portion really well. But maybe since the expectation is high from you. You also get tough criticism :-) But this goes into my favs :-D

Very melodious and soothing rendition, Meera. Agree with some – I think the low notes – on Kavithai could have been clearer to bring out the base – maybe that’s where one feels like it went off? antaras/charanams could have had a tad bit more energy…

Nice rendition! At first, I thought I was playing the original :) Apart from the goodies that everyone has pointed out (which I most agree with), I found your voice struggling a little bit when trying to reach the high notes in few places. But overall, you were great on the rhythm and tone levels and I enjoyed your rendition as always.

Although I dont understand Tamil, this has been one of my favorite songs and I think you’ve done a great job with it!

Since your overall flow is so nice, at a few places when it didnt happen it is standing out a bit. The harkats can be a little smoother too.

But I loved listening to it, do let me know when you do more songs like this!
