Hi Meera,

Great pick…totally love this song for Anupama’s voice and Rahman’s composition….

“En kanvil….” was awesome. Few words like nilavu, nerupu,…that “u” sound might have been sung with the punch…I think the punch in ending each word ,adds the real the beauty to this song.
Beautiful harmonies….amazing work!!

I felt, as already mentioned above,it could have been sung more powerfully and with attitude.En kanavil, part sounded awesome, the same punch was required at few other places as well is what I feel. As already said, brilliant harmonies…one more thing i noticed, the last ohoo ended a bit abrubt.

But all in all wonderful performance!! 5/5 from me…

Meera & Sushane, Great effort!
Meera – ‘Vandhu naan mannile’ and the beginning & ending backing vocals were mind blowing. Ending konjam konjam add ons were nice. From vandhu naan mannile, the charanam sounded great. Overall rendition sounded very soft the orchestration being so heavy. It cud hv been heavier. ‘Mirugam’ innum balama oru singam,puli madri irundhurkalam.

Sushane – Very nice vocals n harmonies. I missed the higher harmony(hope u get me, using my own terms!) of senthazham povuku.

hey…generally singing this type of songs give some confusion.some people add artificial strain in voice…oh wow… the way u sung it is really cool ya…smooth delivery…i really could not make it our which is original and which not…and they way it has been recorded also too good… u got a mini studio or wht? i must appreciate sushane too…seems like you guys here are having a big group…all the best to all…reg suk

Love this song! I have heard it a million times coz we danced to this one for our college annual day function :-)

U were brilliant Meera! I think singing this is extremely difficult. It would not be fair to compare it with Anupama’s version coz both ur voice textures are very different and gives a different feel….her voice is much heavier.

The harmonies were amazing. U gave it ur touch and I totally loved it. Great job!

Sushane – Loved ur vocals. I agree with Ramya that the higher notes would have sounded better at 2:57. Nevertheless, great job!

Very good rendition Meera and Shushane! Looks like you are becoming a pro in mixing. I liked it! I really wish I had this nifty Logic pro (am still struggling with my old school Garageband!)

Regarding your singing, I felt a little more energy and that ‘breathing’ sounds could have made it even better. Your modulations were good. Your scale and timings are flawless! In any case, I appreciate your efforts on trying out a different genre! This community is all about trying out different stuffs and improving with the excellent feed backs you get. You are on the right track!! Keep it up!

WOW!!! Meera its amazing. Very Very difficult song to cover. Superbly Done.

one comment is I can hear/understand the words and pronunciations clearly in your version. But i personally felt that actually reduced the effect/punch of the song. Maybe it is made that way originally to get that punch in the song. Clear pronunciation actually took the style away from the song.

Also, if i remember correctly, there should be another vocal overlay @ 3:29 – 3:34 ish where “Koncham viragam” etc…comes…

Good job Meera and Sushane. I thought both of you did a great job on this. Meera, you’ve brought your own flavor as always.

With that said, I do agree with the folks above the attitude lacking at certain parts. Its not about sounding like Anupama… I am not for a cover sounding like a copy. There are certain aspects of a song that needs to kept intact when doing the cover too, like the central mood of the song. The original was a lot more open and free flowing. This felt a little controlled at certain parts. Just my 2 cents.

I felt that the background volume was higher than the vocals (I didn’t listen to it with earphones. Don’t know if that was the reason). Clarity of words could have been better. Harmonies were excellent. It goes to show the effort you have put in this song. Keep it up.

I am huge fan of your singing and cover versions. But this didn’t sink down very well in me. The miss of attitude and punch at the right places. But maybe this is a song that you generally don’t sing. In that way a good attempt. I felt was sweet singing rather than the enthusiastic rendition that was expected.

This is a master piece song and I loved your voice in it meera. May be a little force could have given that rusty feel. but still, the voice was so good that it took me back those good old days of Rahman at this best.

This was more of a smooth soft version of the original. kind of a remix :) and the mix was good too. great singing meera. loved it. ultimate 5/5 stuff.
