Music was a thing that “happened” to me sometime very early on in life. It has been a staple in my life and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some form of it all through my formative years. Started classical training early on, but just wish it had been more consistent :-) Am more in touch with music now, and also manage classes as often as I can.
I enjoy listening to all kinds of music although I am still to enjoy heavy metal kinds. I have a great passion for music in general, although I feel at home singing genres bordering on classical, semi classical and melodies, as against say a tamil rock cover. Ofcourse, this has never stopped me from trying say, " a secret of success" song from the movie Boys for instance. I love to experiment, and strongly feel harmonies complete any musical piece. I have been recording for the last 3 years now, quite regularly and have found a vast improvement in the way I deliver songs.
I think one of my strengths lies in my ability to interpret the song, and what I have interpreted shows in my voice, which I think is very essential for a singer to connect with a listener. I also believe that my voice is very malleable, to easily weave through songs I choose. My voice feels best when they are in low-mid range, and probably the songs reflecting those ranges have been my best, until date.
I have always been very apprehensive about singing in higher vocal registers, but again, have tried to and am getting better at it. I still strive to be as smooth and confident as possible whenever I transition to those, and guess will keep working on them. I also need to pay more attention to my ending notes since I think it makes a huge difference to the over all feel of the rendition.
I am relatively new to Muziboo and needless to say, very thrilled to be here. I hope people can let me know how I can improve, based on the few that you have heard from me.
Thanks for your time, and this is an awesome discussion George! Thanks for starting this forum :)

I don’t think that I have anything to add here, you are a wonderful singer who knows her strengths and weaknesses very well. I remember the first time I heard you on Blogswara 2 (Ooyalaadunni), I loved the way you sang that song. That when I started following your blog regularly (well not so regularly though ;-)…. But you always had a special place in my list of good singers.
Would like to hear a song which is outside your comfort zone. As I observed you always tend to sing songs that range from low-mid, would love to see you attempt a different song. May be a fast and peppy beat song. And also as AJ pointed out, try doing more songs in other languages too especially Hindi.

Hi Meera:
I think you are singer with great calibre. I fell in love with your voice when I heard “Kaatril varum geethame” and “Oororangum samathile”. What I like about you is the fact that you choose songs that are apt for you and sing it conscientiously.
You have the potential to master hindi songs too, so don’t hesitate to sing more of that. I urge you to try new stuff, so that you can explore more of yourself.
All the very best!

Hi Meera,
First of all, I agree with you self assessment 100% based on what I’ve heard from you so far. What sets you apart from other singers is your control in the lower range. I think you are terrific there. Even your mid range is very strong. Normally with female vocalists, it is the other way round. Not easy to be expressive in the lower range. I think another gift that sets you apart is your voice which has its own individuality. You are in your element when doing semi classical songs. Your song selection is also generally very good as you know what suits your voice and what doesnt. You’ve already identified one of the key areas of improvement, which is the upper range. I also feel you should do more and more hindi songs as this will enhance your opportunities and make you more versatile. You should also try more contemporary numbers in the future.
Really glad you are part of muziboo now. We need experienced people like you to take the lead and help out budding singers who need guidance. Good luck going forward!!!
