What a classic ! Some background…. This Hindi movie was produced by Telugu industry folks, and the main cast was Telugu artists too. The legend goes that Rafi saheb initially was uncomfortable signing on for this heavy classical. He recommended Manna Dey. But the Telugu producer was apparently enamored by Rafi saheb, and after a lot of cajoling Rafi saheb finally consented apparently. There are stories about numerous retakes and stuff that had eventually rendered this immortal melody.

You can find youngsters singing this in almost every major competition you can think of, Sa Re Ga Ma, etc. :-) !

wow……….bahut khubsurat song hain ye i think ise raag mala kehate hain ek hi song main 4 raag hain sohni bahar jaunpuri and yaman …….is song ko gane ke liye himmat chhaiye ………sab se pehale abira ……very nice performance…. . abira tumhari voice quality mujhe pasand aayi…allap or taan better ho sakte the ….but nicly sing ….or ahmed tumhara jawab nahi …bahut ache ….both of u lovely singing not a easy song ……keep it up ……

Awesome singing… This has always been a great favourite with South Indians too,
since it has come not only in Telugu but also in Tamil, sung by legendary maestros of those days…
Both of you have rendered this song with a lot of fineness, very elegantly and effortlessly in your sweet voices.
