Li’ Zak, L-I, Zak, whatever you call him….1 thing is for certain, he is not to be taken lightly! Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia in one of the hardest hoods out there (MECHANICSVILLE), L-I knows the hardships that most artist only rap about. Blessed with a talent and the heart of a lion, he got his start learning under such artists as; The Hitman Sammy Sam , Big Gee of Boyz N Da Hood, and his A.T.A.C.O.N. family. He constantly re-invents himself, redefining his artistry every step of the way. One of the most motivated minds in music, L-I pushes past every boundary the Rap Industry sets. “I remember people telling me I couldn’t rap because I didn’t look like a rapper!”, Zak recalls. “I liked to play the cool role, not tryin’ to stand out amongst a crowd of rappers, and one time Con (Big Con of A.T.A.C.O.N. Ent.) snatched me outta the crowd and told me to SPIT THAT SHIT!, niggas smirked, laughed and er’thang, like I couldn’t spit. Some nigga challenged me, I murdered his ass with 8 bars, niggas started lookin’ at me different then, I wasn’t the rapper to try!” Since then L-I has parted ways with the battle-rap scene. “Shit got boring, the only competition was the nigga I was rappin’ wit’.” His life has taken a different turn, which he attributes largely to his new found faith and the birth of his first child. “I started to see life differently, I didn’t wanna be a RAPPER anymore, I wanted to be a LEGEND.” L-I began to re-evaluate his music, he began to re-establish himself as an ARTIST, someone less MAINSTREAM, someone who looked to the FUTURE, and not so much the present. “It just hit me, er’body cant be Jeezy or T.I. or Kanye, so I stopped tryin’ to make music that they were making, and made my own mark.” L-I reports that he is currently working on his album entitled “LANGUAGE art,” on which he says he’ll be also trying his hand at production. Backed by South Carolina-based producers IMPROV, and Georgia-based REAPER MIC, L-I feels extremely confident that he will make his mark in ATLANTA, and change the industry forever. “I’m at the point where I COULD GIVE A FUCK ABOUT A RECORD DEAL, my people need to be on too, I need a label deal!”
