Yeh Jeevan Hai - Piya Ka Ghar
Yeh Jeevan Hai - Piya Ka Ghar Lyrics & Chords
Uploading an all time favorite song of mine from the movie Piya Ka Ghar. Anand Bakshi’s lyrics are especially noteworthy and Kishore Kumar has sung this with such depth in emotions making it an everlasting song. Music was composed by Laxmikanth Pyarelal.
Please listen to my attempt and leave your feedback. I have sung this with a softened tone to better emote the song.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Kumar.

Very philosophical song, Great song pick Kumar. The track was not the best one. I am sure there are better tracks out there.
Singing wise, start was a bit off beat but u caught the rhythm of the track after it. Agree with Srini bhai about the throw but your soothing interpretation of the song gives a very different feeling. Liked it.

When a voice like Yours comes front, tracks, tricks to mix it so it sounds “pro”, all this musical “make up” stuff have no sense for me. Pure voice is what is to be appreciated here my side on, and believe me, I deeply loved Your singing. To favorits, with no inner conflicts! :)

Hi Kumar
Seen lots of comments above and don’t want to be dismissive about any – I struggled to see where you went off beat – I thought it was perfect. I could not see any issues with the projection of your voice. I thought it was a great interpretation of the song. Loved it.
May be it is my poor understanding of the ocean of music – hope not!!! But I think this is a lovely rendition from you of a great song.

Kumar …great song pick and loved your soft rendering with apt feel…had a lot of individuality and you adhered to the original’s mood. The start was supposed to happen after the 2nd cue in the guitar…felt you started a little late ….hence felt a little offbeat when you began the song. One more thing in this rendition I LIKED a lot, is your hindi diction on words like ghum, khushi, thode :)….keep it up….goes to my favs !!!

Voice suits the song, Kumar. I am not aware of the original, so guess I can’t compare, (and I don’t I will want to do that either :P) I will take this as your version, liked the soft vocals!
Think the track quality compromised your mix overall, wish that weren’t the case!

Kumar – Perfect rendition of this evergreen melody from great Laxmikant Pyarelal. The composition is very tricky though sounds simple, very difficult to cover. An interesting thing about Laxmikant Pyarelal (I am a big fan of their music)….they never used to compromise on the way a particular note or harkat needs to be taken no matter who the singer is.
Coming to your cover, I feel it has not got the praise it deserves… I find this to be the best cover of this song on Muziboo.

Kumar…. That was a nice rendition… Did very good justice to the song… I liked your vocal modulations to suit the mood and style of the song… The only area where I felt issues were in the timing in certain places… Agree with Harshan about starting a bit late… While you were spot on on the words like khushi, I felt your ‘Ghum’ could be better The words “Ise” in “Ise Apna lo ….” should be in off beat… You sang it in beat by stretching “Ise….”. I agree with Srininvas to some extent about the throw …You could sing with little more throw…
All these points are not taking away the beauty of your cover. Probably this is one of the best covers of this song I have heard and your best Hindi cover so far… … Keep it up…

Kumar Bro!! You caressed the melody diligently and it does have its effect on the listeners… Your soft tone has cushioned the philosophical lyrics, I think… Some timing issues were conspicuous but left to subjugation by your beautiful singing… :) Glad that I could listen to you after a hiatus… Good luck, bro!!
Thanks,

Srini, thanks for your candid feedback, helps me to improve. As I mentioned, I was going for a softer tone, so perhaps that came through as lack of throw/confidence. Will have to overcome that when I attempt similar songs in the future. Thanks a lot for listening :).
Rahul, thanks a lot. The timing interpretation in this song is a bit flexible in this song because the emotions are the mainstay. I may have take some liberties here but hope it is not too disturbing. Agree the track is not the best. Will have to find a better one. Let me know if you have one :).
Saroj-ji, thank you.
Adina, thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement. Appreciate it.

Sarada, thank you so much.
Meera, thank you. Found some noise in my recording after I finished singing, that added to my mixing woes. Glad you liked this.

Hi Kumar,
Voice was par excellence … like that in you and the way you caressed the song.
I listened to the original too as I get intrigued by beat issues, as mentioned by some here. I was left smiling when I listened to the original … Kishore the playful one I thought!!.
Here is what happened according to me:
- You were singing everything in rhythm, no issues whatsoever and musically nothing wrong at all.
- original song is slower in tempo than your track, and Kishore da has sung it with his own lliberties, taking his starts off-beat mostly in the song. This he did I believe to bring in more expression and his singing is fractionally behind the beat. This is tricky to do and he has been masterfully playful in this song. One has to listen closely to see what I mean and hope you noted that too.
- As your track was a bit faster this would have been difficult to achieve with the requisite emotion so you sung it in your style, coming ‘on the beat’ in “Yeh jeevan….” instead of a slight delayed take.
- The start of the song like some have noted is right … the original starts on the 3rd beat and instead you took it on the 1st and then caught up with the rest later. It is not a big deal as no one would have noted this except people who are really familiar with the song.
- The antharas were all ok … once again Kishore plays coming a tad off-beat which you could not do cos of your briskier track I believe.
- I believe if you slow down the tempo of this track to match the original you would be able to achieve what was going on in the original. Coming off-beat a tad actually emotes the song better and brings more emotion … this is what Kishore da has done!.
Your voice was superb and you emoted well too, but if the above were in place you would have emoted even better!.
Tricky one but I loved it.

Kalaji, thanks a lot for listening.
Arvind, thanks so much for the detailed feedback. Before recording, I listened to the original a few times and observed how KK has played around with the timing in this song. The track I used was an instrumental and so I decided to follow the lead instrument. Agree with your comments completely. Thanks again.
Shailender, appreciate your feedback and encouragement.
