Kumar, my favourite too. Though the movie was not a big hit, this song certainly was. You have sung this quite beautifully with all its nuances. Yesudas had a lot of problems with his hindi diction. You have copied the same from him. Also,in this song you should sing swaras with the hindustani diction. It should be Re and not Ri for instance.
Apart from diction issues, that was a brilliant cover of a tough song-Congrats!

Kumar….Lovely song well sung by you as always…You indeed sounded like KJY at many places… Pointers already mentioned above. Like I have mentioned in some of your earlier songs in Hindi, your carnatic influence shows a bit here too – I mean in the sangatis… Were the swaras at the end of the first charanam perfect with respect to their positioning (Stahanam)? I am not trained in music …so cant tell authentically though I felt it needs more perfection. Please correct me if I am wrong…Ignore this and forgive me if I am not correct…

Overall I really appreciate your attempt at such a tough song.

You have done this superbly ….loved your voice modulations and attention to details. I didnt see any major issues in diction except for the word “gum”…that doesnt take away anything from this stupendous rendition ….Pranam !!! to my favourites.

Hi Kumar,

One of those evergreen favourite songs that will stand the test of time without a doubt!.

Nicely done and hats off to your sincere singing; not that easy a song as not only does it require precision but also tact, pining expression and cleverness in the use of the rhythm structure for this song.

In my humble opinion, no major flaws as such Kumar and you your effort was a good one. However I picked up a few areas that would have made it sound more professional. None of us here are perfect and we can only keep on learning from the ‘Greats’ … so here goes a few things that I thought of:

- the tempo was a bit slow and this was a setback for expressive singing. You would have also become more bolder had the tempo been a bit brisker I felt.
- The pining expression was missing eg. Sa re gaaaa……there is a certain flow and finish there that was missing for me.
- The swara placement (like what NVK pointed out above) is not perfect Kumar. There is not enough finesse to render the right brisky expression in the swara rendering; as a result it sounds a bit lacklustre.
- Rhythm – for the most part was fine but you missed some finer points. Eg. in “….aaah bijha….BHARUSadhe preethuka sawan…….”, the “Bha” in “Bharusadhe” does not sit exactly on the beat, it is very slightly off-beat and amazingly contorted to fit the expression that follows … if you commence it exactly on the beat (like you have done) it puts a different colour on it and the expression drags and sounds a bit dull. This is what I call the intuition of the composer in coming up with such miraculous adjustments and KYY has given a lot of finesse in this song to such places. This is one of those minor things that has an unsaid impact to the ears I feel.

Well enough said! … a truly sincere effort on your part, which would have sounded even better if you had gone for more throw in places and rendered with a bit more of pinache, rather than being constrained by precision!. This is not a song many can sing that easily so are consistently proving yourself as an unquestionably very good singer. Cheers mate!.

Listened to it Kumar after a long time as I was browsing through some songs here.

Got to tell you that your voice was very good and I enjoyed it for that quality!.

Depsite my previous analysis on some pointers, I felt like saying that I just enjoyed it purely from the point of view of enjoying the song as it was rendered by you.

Stupendous voice quality is what I felt and not many people can do this song even to this quality.

Liked it from a rasigan point of view!!
