Had to take a break from singing & recording over the past month for various reasons.
Glad to be back here with this evergreen song from the movie Marupadiyum. Composed by Ilayaraja and sung majestically by SPB, here is my attempt of this lovely song.
I want to thank Kumaran for sending me the track for this song.

But you have come back with a lovely song.
The oho was so fresh and your singing was so expressive. The landing notes gave a light touch of carnatic base because of the nuances you showed. But Loved it.

This is my most favourite song in Tamil film music industry…….I dont know how many times i wud have heard the original in the past……
You have done the best , Kumar….No doubt for that……Everything was perfect….But i am confused……Is the tempo correct ?????….This is song is not at all speedy like this……Kumar , pls correct me if i am wrong…….You are brilliant in both the charanams…But they were also very high in tempo………….Overall , superb effort & my personal congrats for selecting this song….

Enjoyed this song in your voice…vandh’aadum’ specifically felt wee bit odd to my ears… one of those few songs where I am so well versed with the original and SPB overrides every cover I hear I guess :))
But that said, nothing takes away the effort and the charm from your cover…
Oh, thought the reverb was just a tad higher for your vocals. You might want to check it…

Kumar ….I am familiar with this song, thanks to some of the old prior covers on this site. Beautifully sung, felt you could raise your vocal volume a bit….the low notes gets drowned when the strings comes into the picture…loved it very much !!!

Harshan, yes you are right the string section in the pallavi is especially loud and it drowns the vocals. Not sure how to get around it.

Hey Kumar
One of my favourite numbers. You have sung it effortlessly and there was a flow. Sounded like unnikrishnan in many places. Enjoyed listening to your rendition. Sangathis in certain places were really good (especially after the first pallavi).
However, got the feeling that the effortless rendering took away a little seriousness from the song (hahahaha), especially when its a song with so much of “karutthu”.Also, the “slight” variations added in certain places made it sound a shade classical.
But, that apart, wonderful singing. Loved the mixing too. Keep up the good work buddy.
