This is a romantic melody from the movie Aahaa (1997) composed by Deva and sung elegantly by Hariharan. Hariji’s songs are always filled with subtle variations and modulations – very challenging. The lyrics of this song are also wonderful – not sure who the lyricist for this song is.
Here is my attempt at this song. I have sung this with a bit of a controlled voice. Felt this suited the song better.
From a mixing standpoint, I finally found a way to compress my vocals. Hope this sounds decent.

Kumar, Very nice rendition. There is a hindi song with the same tune I believe. Some places, you seemed to rush from the actual tempo. Some of the nuances were very nicely done & some can be better.

Kumar – Havent heard the song before. Nice song.I too thought that the ninaikavaithayi was very nicely done. In addition to the pointers above – not sure if it was the controlled singing, felt that you compromised on the feel a bit espec at the beginning. Feel in the charanams came out better,i thought. However, good melodious cover!

very nice pick and rendition Kumar-Gud to hear your voice after some gap….excellent expressions and feel through out…enjoyed it….
good mix too-I felt the opening pallavi alone was slightly lower in its level as I found the vocals heard ‘behind’ the track or may be just my bad ears!

Ramya, Shrinesh, Meena, Jenefa – will look into the timing issue you have mentioned. I did make a change in the way I sing Mudhal Mudhalil in some instances so I could stretch the Mudhalil word a bit more.

Subbu, not sure what you heard in the background in the pallavi, there should be no vocals. Glad you liked this though.
Radhika, thanks for the feedback. About the lack of feel in the pallavi, not sure if it is because of me just getting warmed up. Others have advised me to re-sing the pallavi again after singing the charanams. Will have to try that trick.

Hi Kumar, Nice voice and rendition. Mudhal should come after the beat not on the beat .. that’s why the timing issue. You are having to drag the words bcos you are coming earlier. Apart from this was well sung and was sweet. Cheers.

This was one of the most awesome duets of Hari-Chitra. nodikkoru tharam ninaikka vatithaay – very well done. And since this was a song that HH tossed and turned up and down to such an extent that anybody who later attempted felt more mortal than than he (as in the ‘anybody’) really was, I am not going to point out anything in this. Sweet rendition kumar.

Nicely done, and of course I concur with the comments of all our friends here. You have a really great asset in terms of your voice and flow. The only thing that you can concentrate on is to have a greater grip on the song you sing. Your voice seems at times to flow lackadaisically ( I am not sure if I got the spelling right on that one… lol) what I mean is it seems either you are singing very casually or with some amount of uncertainty. I am sure you can correct that. But… great voice and singing Kumar.
