Ilaya Nila - Payanangal Mudivathillai
Ilaya Nila - Payanangal Mud... Lyrics & Chords
It has been a busy few weeks with very little time for singing & recording. I am glad to be back with this evergreen song by the trio Ilayaraja-Vairamuthu-S.P.Balasubramaniam from the movie Payanagal Mudivathillai.
Always wanted to cover this, so here is my attempt at this melody that sounds fresh even after three decades.
As always, look forward to your feedback.
-Kumar.

An evergreen song sounded different in your voice… Liked your take on this number… Felt you could have sung this with an extra ounce of energy… :) And those naughty smiles were missing though… Nevertheless, a classy reproduction of this yesteryear’s classic…
Thanks,

Kumar – lovely pick. You sounded very nice, thought the depth at the low notes are sounding stronger – so good going. Clear recording and your mixes and getting even better. Have heard this song more in stage shows in college and office than otherwise. You have given a softer touch to the song, which to me sounded alright – not sure if the context and the lyrics of the song demands more though.

Hey Kumar, I loved your rendition right from the first line :) You have sung the song with great ease and thats what I liked most about the song. Looks like this song reminds everyone of their college days irrespective of their age. That talks a lot about this song being a real “evergreen” song! :-) Lovely selection and amazing rendition! :) Nice soft treatment!

Friends, was skeptical about how this song will be received in my voice, but happy to note it fell easy on most of your ears :-).
Ambily, thanks a lot. Glad you liked it.
Uthra, thank you. I am sure I have deviated from the original in more places than one. Like Vishak correctly observed, this is more inspired by many live renditions by SPB available on youtube :).
Sai, thanks a lot. Glad you knew this one and enjoyed it.
Harshan, thank you. Was going for that laid back feel and perhaps that gave the low energy feel. Will keep it in mind. Glad you liked it.
Vishak, bingo, yes this was based on live performances. Glad you found this decent :-).
Ananya, thank you so much. Appreciate your feedback.
Arvind, thank you. Glad you liked my version.
Hi Srini, nice to have you back and thanks for listening. Glad you liked it.
Thanks a lot Kumaran !!
TGKji, very glad to see your response. Much appreciated.
Thanks Ambily, Ananya, Srini & TGKji for adding this to your favorites.

Hi Kumar!
Am here after a looooong time… :) This is an evergreen song and am sure will sound as interestg even after another 3 decades… :D
Very well sung by you… You have this song in your own style, which i liked a lot… :) However, one thing I noticed about this rendition was tht, your voice is a lil shaky in the anupallavi and charanam… This is only a nitpick…
All the very best!

Thought your voice was a good fit for your voice! LIked your soft approach, felt different in a nice way I mean. From a pointers perspective, felt a wee bit more energy and style would have upped this quite a bit :)
The track btw is very good, compared to some I have come across!
Cheers,
