Ambalapuzhe - Adwaitham
Ambalapuzhe - Adwaitham Lyrics & Chords
When Adithi expressed interest in a malayalam duet a few months back, I suggested this song – a very popular piece from the movie Adwaitham (1992). The song was written by Bichu Thirumala and composed by M.G. Radhakrishnan. Finally we both got down to working on the song this past week.
The original was sung by M.G. Sreekumar and K.S.Chithra. I especially like the flute piece at the beginning of the second interlude in this song. It is a stroke of genius in my mind and I cannot get over how it was conceived and included in the arrangement.
Here is our attempt. Adithi has paid a lot of attention to diction in this song and she has done a great job with the singing as well. We have also included the sloka as a prelude to the song. This is how it is picturised in the movie.
Look forward to your valuable feedback.

@Kumar bro! You sound soooooooooo flamboyant in this number as usual. Minute nuances are very well reproduced. Should have that softness in voice to cover any malayalam number I feel. That is very well inherited by you. A smooth rendition. Perfect delivery. Hats off. @Adithi! Your diction has improved a lot. I can’t comment on diction actually. But as a keen observer of your songs and singing, I think I have that franchise to analyse your renditions. Anyways cool singing. Substantial improvement by leaps and bounds. Am so happy. Hats off. Nice cover with neat vocals. Keep them coming.Have listened to a cover of this number in a blog. Was flattered by the soothing tune and the melodious voices of the original singers and I could feel the same smoothness and intoxication in this cover too.
Thanks & Regards,
RAJ.

Nice familiar song to most south indians … one that even I have sung (aghast?!) on stage in years gone by with my ignorant malayalam accent! :-)
This cover is nice and overall a treat for the ears. Congrats to both of you, Adithi and Kumar, for a polished performance of this evergreen melody!.
Whilst the right side of my brain was enjoying both your voices and the instrumentation (loved the Veena), the left side started wearing the surgeon’s hat (God help us all!) and here is the inevitable dissection:
- Kumar, voice was mellow and nice but more energy and volume required to give suitable prounounced singing expression. Try also giving more compression to your voice to bring up the volume across the entire frequency. You have an excellent natural voice which just needs more spice in terms of singing style (try bolder?) to make it more captivating. And why not, I feel you can do it!.
- Adithi, lovely rendition with your classical touches but familiar problem of voice sounding battered in places. With this in mind, you may opt for lowering your volume and applying tube compression to your vocals to gloss the tired sounding syllables.
Both your vocals are not matched in terms of overall gain … Adithi sounds more in front than Kumar, this being a mixing/mastering issue.
Other than this it was a very enjoyable cover that garlands the melody for all to enjoy.
~With a rhythm is born a song. From a pulsing heart is born music!.

Wow…Wow……Very good….Nice song selection…….Both of you have done perfect job….Idea of Kumar to make akka to sing the opening keerthanam was fantastic….Her sound really matches with the original….At all places akka had justified 101%….About Kumar , a small suggestion from my side , M.G.S will always keep a strong chemistry with “sruthi” in all his songs with beautiful “layam” too. I felt a small jerk on both parts….Otherwise , a great attempt….keep it up

This song was mentioned to me only today, never knew about it before. And rightly, I guessed someone would have already done a brilliant cover of it here….and I am not disappointed… :)
Beautiful song! and beautifully covered, Kumar and Adithi!
once again, no clues on the language and so couldn’t appreciate the meaning much…but enjoyed the softness in both your voices. Only pointer I could also agree with predominantly is that Adithi’s voice sounds more frontal, and Kumar’s a bit from behind the screen. Sorry for using such layman terms, but I am bad at these techniques… :)
Enjoyed the track also….it was very nice!
