Tulasidala Mulache - MAyAmAlava Gowlai
Tulasidala Mulache - MAyAmA... Lyrics & Chords
A simple invocation composed by Saint Thyagaraja in glory of Lord Rama.
This is largely different from any of my previous postings. I have not kept paid too much attention to the thalam because i was singing this as more of an invocation
I have tried my best to avoid any apaswaras anywhere…nonetheless if anything has evaded my care, do let me know.
thanks for listening and commenting :)

Superb Karthik. Great to hear this keerthanai right in the morning from you after a while. I liked the way you sang mulache and then santhoshamuga, usually it wud sound odd when someone pauses at san then thoshamuga. Your alaap at anupallavi was great. Do upload more carnatic songs.

It is fine. But chirakaalamu has gone off both the times in the anupallavi and also the sustained note dharmatmu"ni"’s end. Other than that I did not find anything glaring. Good to hear pure carnatic stuff as vidya said.

Very well expressed, enjoyed this kriti of tyAgarAja and I could not find any flaws in your singing, words very aptly pronounced and it conveyed the bhavam in the most melodious way.
A nice pick for my fav and keep posting more!

Karthik,
Bravo, brother. It’s simply awesome. When I hear something like this, I often feel that there is a true beauty & serenity with just a Tambura/shruti box that cannot be matched by a hundred fancy instruments. Into my favorites, your song goes.
I know, this was the KJ Yesudas’s film version from the movie “Rudra Veena (or it’s Tamil Version?)”—KJY sings for Chaaru Haasan in the movie. And, there was a shorter SPB’s version in the movie as a background at a later scene in the movie. But, this was one of my favorite songs from that movie. I used to practice it so much in those days that I had tough time learning my music teacher’s version subsequently.
You have done an amazing job and do sound like KJY in places. Overall a beautiful rendition. I did not find any issues with the shruti/swaras (after listening to it three times).
One correction though: it is ‘santoshamuGa’ not ‘santhoshamuKa’. I thought I heard ‘Ka’ sound through out instead of ‘Ga’
But 5/5 from me.
Best,
Ravi

Did hear few very marginal off pitch notes here and there as Murali said.
Would like to hear manodharma next time :)
