Swarnima - Original Composition with Shreedhar Ganapathy, Sudha Kumar, Vishwa Deepak
Swarnima - Original Composi... Lyrics & Chords
This is the first time I’m collaborating with Shreedhar & Sudha. I’ve already done a song with Vishwa(the lyric writer who needs no introduction :-). I’ve already made this song in Tamil before, which was sung by Unnikrishan, Meera & Vishak. Shreedhar & Sudha have given a new perspective to the song and I hope you all will like the song in their voice.
Thanks to Shreedhar, Sudha & Vishwa for being a part of this song. I loved working with you guys.
Wish you all a very happy new year 2011.
Song Name : Swarnima
Singers : Shreedhar Ganapathy & Sudha Kumar
Harmony : Shreedhar Ganapathy

Apsara apsara,
Urvashi menaka,

nain mein utre, adhar pe barse,
hriday pe chaaye, ritu sheetal…
Anthra-1

kab se hoon din ki main dupahari,
kab se hoon shab ki main sukh-lahari,
kab se hoon noor ki main kyaari,
main hi hoon roop ki phulwaari…
priyatamaa priyeshwari
shashimukhi subhage
maNi-khachit hem-rachit
hriday-dhariNi
surabhi ki sur-sari
su-madhur sarite
sab se tu apratim

Anthra-2

rab ki duaa se hi
mujh ko mili hai ye
baadaami nayan ki
bauraaii adaa,
rab ki duaa se hi
chehre pe chamke hai
chanaar ke patton ki
lalsaaii subah…
ab se ye sab hi hain bas tere
ab se ye lab bhi hain bas tere
ab se main swaati hoon tu seepee
ab se main sundar hoon tu shilpi…

ambar ka anubhavi
apsaraa rachaa tujhe

Great piece of creativity ……Kitcha. Beautiful voices of sridhar and sudha complimented each other. Nice lyrics by Deepak too as usual, with all due respects however felt that a lighter lyrics (not using all those bhari hindi words) would have gone very well with this compositon…just my 2 cents worth….to my favs.

Good work team :) Had commented on the composition & arrangement in the Tamil version already.
For this version –
VD has written some really tough tongue twister lyrics to challenge the singer :) The meaning is beautiful !
Singing was good …. liked the laugh at the end. But felt a little more expressions and in singing could have taken this to a next level. My 2 cents.

Kitcha bro!!! – Am gradually becoming a gr8 fan of ur compositions…. Am happy to see you with enormous creativity. How challenging it must be to work with gr8 singers in two languages…. Heard this both in Tamil n Hindi. U deserve a big applause Kitcha anna…. Shreedhar ji, loved ur starting harmonies very much…. Sudha akka aptly portrayed the scene with garv kinda attitude in her beauty…. Gr8 work Vishwa Deepak for presenting this song with shuddh basha…. Wishing a Happy New Year to the team….

@Satish – I agree with your observations about pitching issues here and there on my part – I surely need to work on them more. Thanks for your honest feedback.
@Kuhoo – Thanks a lot for your feedback on enhancing expressions. Coming from such an accomplished singer as you, I appreciate that very much and would love to get specifics – Could you give examples wrt expressions improvement? A voice sample would be even better – you can send it to my email address shreeg at yahoo dot com.

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this… To be honest with you, couldn’t plunge completely into the tamizh version of this very composition due to the recording artifacts… Wish the other version gets posted soon sorting out those technical glitches… This is a good tune which can relate any listener to the gist easily…
Sridhar! You have got a powerful voice with which you can work wonders here… Unfortunately the tricky rhyming structure of the lyrics overtook your singing capabilities in the fray, affecting the scale-adherence substantially at few places… As a singer, I can understand how difficult it would have been to cope up with all the technical ingredients in such a pace… You can easily subdue that pitching issue, being a seasoned singer… And you were awesome with the expressions, given the theme… I envy you for the gift, Nature has bestowed you upon… :-) Best wishes!!!
Sudha! You cake-walked, I should admit… Liked your voice dynamics… I’d have wanted you to smile when u start humming at 1:03… Having understood the lyrics, I feel ‘that’ smile would have imparted the necessary tint that the protagonist can boast of her beauty… :-) Hope you get my drift… You breezed through the rest and this is another plume in your cap… Great work… Keep rocking with such original compositions… Good Luck!!!
Vishwa! I am not entitled to comment anything on your work as I am not a polyglot… :-) But I know how hard it is, to bring words onomatopoeically without deviating from the theme… I limit my comments here… Good Luck to you, too!!!
Kitcha! Nothing new to append… I harp on my request again… Do come with more originals as this… All the best…
Thanks,

Thank you dear friends for all your great f/bs on our team effort. I was definitely coming out of my comfort zone of raag-based classics, bhajans etc… in singing this song. Thanks Kitcha! :-)
@Kuhoo, Rakesh, Raj – Totally agree on expressions. Its one dept. I need to work on in general… I get conscious/nervous the moment I don my recording hat and apparel…. :-) Smiling now…
Happy 2011 all!

Very good team work guys. Liked the composition and the delivery.
Very good work Kitcha and Vishwa, the song had a nice retro feel to it (lyrics and arrangement)
Shreedhar, the start was especially beautiful. Very good expressions through out. Pitching could be tighter.
Sudha, nice, free flowing singing. Liked it a lot.

Shreedhar and Sudha- You have voices to die for!
Nice concept, Kitcha! The Hindi version imparted a different flavour than the Tamil one and was enjoyable too.
I felt that the vocals could have been more expressive as suggested by a few others above. But it is not an easy job I know.
To favs! :)

Thanks very much for the great feedback, folks.
Much appreciate it.
Adithi, thanks a lot for the feedback. To be honest, I had trouble singing in the original Tamil tune in the higher notes, so improvised the start with lower notes and compensated the higher notes with a harmony – different notes same effect :-)
I wish I had focused more on my pitching as you all have pointed out.

Hi Guys!
Lovely work by you Kitcha! Its a nice tune… Very delicately done… Wonderful choice of voices in this version!
Shreedhar – You have sung really well! Loved your voice and singing in this… The harmonies sung in the pallavi portions were BEAUTIFUL!!
Sudha – You have sung very well too! Loved the giggle at the end…
VD – Once again great work with the lyrics (I guess)…. To be perfectly honest I did not understand most of it… :) I would actually agree with Harshan Sir above… Guess it would have taken the song to the next level had the lyrics been a bit more lighter…. :) Nevertheless, great effort!
All the very best!

Sudha – liked the garvam in your voice throughout and the laugh at the end

Thank you friends for your great, candid and constructive f/bs! It does help…
@Adithi – Thanks for fav’ing despite the apparent dearth of expressions in some portions… :-)
@Sushanth, Revathi – You both hit the nail on the head in your analysis… I think the lyrics played a pivotal role in this song, and changed the flavor a lot between the Tamil and Hindi version. I have to admit I struggled with words like Dupahari, Sukhlahari, and even skipped a couple of key words while phrasing out my 2nd antara… Glad though you liked my attempt of bringing some “garv” in the female protagonist’s voice…
Shreedhar had the tougher task with his vocals, and he executed brilliantly!
Hats off to Kitcha and Vishwaji.
