One of my most favourite songs of SJ. Very well sung, Kavitha! Minor shruthi issues here and there but you carried the spirit of the song very well. What recording gear do you use? A better recording setup may help bring out the true quality of your voice. All the best!

For the longest time, I always remembered the song to go “uruththudhunga”. When I decided to record this one, I listened to the original, I was surprised it was “urukkudhunga”- I checked against couple of websites with lyrics even. I would think “oru vaarthai – vandhu uruththudhunga” makes more sense , but I am sure Vairamuthu sir had his reasons to go with “Urukkudhunga”….
“ooru sanam” vs. “Ooruchanam” – SJ sings as “ooruchanam”.So, I decided to go with that.

The current recording setup I have, I cannot hear myself when I sing. But, that is no reason for the sruthi issues to creep in. I’ll try to re-upload sometime soon.
@Aditi – Did you notice offs anywhere other than pallavi – let me know.

Nice voice and gud feel….starting notes were little shaky… in 1st charanam after interlude ur
starting could have been little smooth….some portions are too good.

Your karaoke track is double pitched. Whoever did the track did not ensure that the portions cut out from the original and the “fill in” arrangement are in the same pitch. As a result, it kept infringing on your rendition and you were not sure which reference you should adhere to for your shruthi. So, in my opinion it is not your fault whenever you had pitching issues in this.

Solely based on the way you carried the song, it is really very nice. This is an eternal classic and sits right next to “VettivERu vaasam”. The very first word “raasaavE…” expresses the longing of the village belle.

If diction is important for the song, so is the accent or the slant. And in this song Janaki just epitomized the folk flavor and the casual singing style in a mind boggling way. The way she stresses on the words “indha gadhiyaachchu” – just priceless. You have done very well in capturing that too, but may be a little more slant in “aachu” would have been more delectable.

try kannada song;’ Aa bettadalli, beladingalalli…… ( movie:baa nalle madhu chandrake)’ nicely dedicated to music lovers. Mainly those lines…its extra ordinary…. truly something extra… i am fond of it….
