Thank you so much for your kind cooperation and baring the bambarding of the revised versions one after another. I am extremely sorry for that. It’s all the hangover of this song. I wrote so many stanzas, toured many papers…. sometimes something struk, then again I felt it could be better than that. It was all the play of words I wanted to fit in the rhythm, so obviously I kept on writing and many things kept on striking even after sending you to upload. But I was just striving for pouring the apt feeeeeeel in my lyrics. I am very much grateful to you for baring my harassment. Excellent Chandrakant ji… This is a very novel attempt. Any song that has an underlying trace of melody, sweetness and appeal is open for singing in any voice – male or female, by any one and ultimately it is the music and tune of the song that would enrich the lyrics’ quality.
I am sorry I am unable to comment on the lyrics, due to my inherent lack of knowledge of Hindi, but your singing, the feel you have given, and the overall mood conveyed in your rendition are really remarkable. I wonder how many on this forum will do such favors. Really commendable:)

Chandrakant Ji, Agree to Latha Ji about the PRO account. Its high time you get one since your singing deserves it. Very easy for people to miss your songs posted on someone else’s page. Also spare a thought for poor Kala Ji’s inbox:) Just Kidding. I hope next time I come to your page and pen my comment:)

As far as writing the lyrics, I was very impressed to listen to your inputs. The lyrics are apt with the overall mood of the song. Very good work on the lyrics front.

Coming to singing, I see that you are comfortable singing such songs. You do have the voice to carry such folk tunes and here also your singing effort was good. Your very first line “Dil Hoom Hoom Kare” was out of the world fantastic:). After that, I would have loved some more expressions while singing. Some places you tend to sing the lines/notes straight where even a slight modulation will sound much expressive. That said, the Aaye and Ghabraye notes, which were the difficult parts were very well done.

Also technique of pitching (scaling of one note to the other) in the antaras could improve. Thats easier said than done as I am also learning this part. This song is full of tricky modulations and stresses/breakdown on particular words is the charm of this composition, especially Bhupen Ji’s male version. Your rendition could improve on those fronts. Its also very trademark Raag Bhupali. In this raag ‘Ma’ and ‘Ni’ are not sung and its comprised of 5 notes (Sa Re Ga Pa Dha) instead of usual 7. I am learning music these days from my better half:) so just thought would share some information about this song and its raag:)

Overall, you did a good job with this classic.

Hazarika Sahab, also known as the Son of Brahmaputra was a very talented folk artist and used assamese musical influences. I also like his Ganga Aaye Kahan Se, which by the way was inspired by an old American Musical “Old Man River”. This song is a classically based song with a folk effect. May his sould rest in peace!
