Let Them Sleep
Let Them Sleep Lyrics & Chords
Here is a song for the Valentine’s Day – dedicated especially to Pramod Mutalik, the chief of Sri Ram Sene. This song is a poem written by the 13th century Persian poet Rumi. I chose Rumi’s poem titled “Those who don’t feel this Love” as I thought it would be apt for the situation. I particularly liked the lines “those who don’t want to change, let them sleep”. This song is also my entry for the V-Day special contest on Desi Critics.

Those who don’t feel this Love
By Rumi
Those who don’t feel this Love
pulling them like a river,
those who don’t drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don’t want to change
let them sleep.
This Love is beyond the study of theology,
that old trickery and hypocrisy.
If you want to improve your mind that way
sleep on.
I’ve given up on my brain.
I’ve torn the cloth to shreds
and thrown it away.
If you’re not completely naked,
wrap your beautiful robe of words around you
and sleep
PS: Excuse my accent :-)

Hey Anirban, thanks for the comments and pointing out about the Lo Fi (I somehow missed it!). Have turned it back to 128 bit streaming. :-)
Harshan, thank you.

Hi Jo,
Nice job. I expecially like the lyrics. I think the melody line is very similar to one of the western classical pieces. I cant quite pinpoint now. As Harshan pointed out, there are parts where your vocals sound muffled. You could probably fix it using eq.

Jo,
Very pleasant. Echo others comment on the pointers.
However, couldn’t help wondering if a slightly higher scale could have helped the vocals show better.
Good luck with the contest!

George – Thanks! I am yet to experiment with Cubase, I still use CEP and don’t know how to use EQ there. :-( Will try Cubase after I buy a new system.
Meera – Thanks Meera. The reason I made the song in base tone is that the message that the song gives out is firm and gentle and I thought a deeper voice would convey that properly. :-)

Hi Jo…i am really very very glad to share your political feelings….but u know….its just that …all this good stuff doing for these undeserving people …is like singing a song to the walls….
you really have to fight fire with fire…
anyways thats my political take on this whole situation
you have a great voice and you are very very talented…just dont waste it on these dumb idiots who definitely have a ulterior motive behind their actions
great stuff
i am just sharing my political feelings with you
you may feel medicine is the cure
i just believe poison is the cure
thats my 2 cents on it…as usual love your voice….great stuff

Nithya – Thank you! :-)
Sudeip – I do understand your feelings towards this and I share it. :-) I know a song is not going to change the minds of those folks, but it is also important to show them that people do protest about such hooliganism in their own ways. Some blogs about the issue, some draw cartoons and some sings. :-) It is just to tell those folks that we are aware of what they do and not going to be silent. :-)
And thanks for your comments on the song!
