Ooru Sanam Thoongirichi (Tamil - False Voice) Hemanth
Ooru Sanam Thoongirichi (Ta... Lyrics & Chords
2012 01 15 Cover – Here’s a “soup song” after a “flop song” :-) ! For those who are familiar with kolaveri :-)!! A semi-folk song for the occasion of PONGAL festivity….
Covering this superlative melody of S. Janaki madam using false voice. Janaki madam is renowned for her false voice rendering in South Indian movies, singing like male voice and children’s voice. So, attempting the false voice queen’s song using false voice :-)….
I had attempted this long ago, but using some Muziboo best practices this time around.
The song’s cinematography is as follows:
The heroine is a simple village girl, who sings this song one night, while dreaming about her possible would-be-husband (her distant relative, a hip city dweller)….
The translation of the title stanza is like: The villagers have all slept, the cold wind has also blown, but why this sinful soul is still awake, I don’t seem to know….!? :-) !
Original Credits:
Movie: Mella Thirandhathu Kadhavu (The door opened slowly) (1986)
Music Directors: Padma Bhushan Maestro ILayaraja and the yesteryears genius M.S.Viswanathan sir jointly music-directed this musical super-hit movie….
Lyricist: Vaali
Singer: Awesome S. Janaki
Hope you will enjoy this….
Thank you & regards,
Hemanth

What is Pongal festivity? You guys have opened an all new pandora box for me with Tamil and Malayalam songs. I think it is easier to sing in false voices specially in achieving the high notes but what the heck if one enjoys it too then why not. This melody seems to have been well taken by my brain. I will call it a Jaanki song….Lol. Enjoyed it Hemanth.

Wahh!! Wahh!! Hemanth. You are superbly singing in false voice. I remember my younger days when I was singing on stage for Ganamela( Music concert) We had a singer named Ganga from Trivandrum. He was singing so beautifully the songs of Janaki Amma. If we listen it eyes closed we will believe that it is a girl singing. You are singing so beautifully without any pitching problem.
Much regards

Hi Nirmala, Hema ji, Naqvi guru ji,Harish ji, Chandran bro…. Thank you all for sparing time to check out this falsetto experiment :-) !
@Nirmala: Welcome to my space. I will check out your work too. Regards,
@Hema ji: Thank you very much :-) !!
@Naqvi Ji: Pongal is a major seasonal harvest festival in Tamilnadu…., and it is celebrated as Sankranti in several other states too :-)! So, a rural song chosen to celeb a rural (origin) festivity….
I knew that you would like this melody. True about the ease of achieving high notes when using false voice. Yes, Jaanki song is a cute naming for this cute melody :-) ! Many thanks sir…. Kind regards.
@Harish ji: Many thanks sir…. This Kolaveri song is a favorite of mine too. It will try and attempt it sometime :-). Many thanks for the encouragement. Kind regards
@Chandran bro: Wow, that’s a lavish compliment from a fab artist like you. Based on your description I easily visualize how spectacularly Mr. Ganga must have enthralled his audience. Thank you bro. Kind regards….

Dear Mushtaque bro, Priya, Harshan, & Wazif bros, Thank you very much for your time and lavish compliments on this falsetto experiment :-) !
@Mushtaque bro: Truly honored. Glad you liked the narration as well :-)…. Kind regards
@Priya: This is an immortal melody indeed, and Janaki madam seems to be ageless, rendering this and other songs with the same ease and quality well into her 60’s (maybe 70’s?). She resides not too far from my Chennai abode. I have this dream of hosting her someday and singing this falsetto to her :-)! Let’s see….
@Harshan bro: Thanks much mate!
@Wazif bro: Many thanks mate…. Truly humbled (like our Govind ji says :-), and honored !
Warm regards to all….

Hari & Anbu bros :-), Thanks very much for stopping by, and for your encouraging feedback….
@Hari: I did realize after the upload that I had involuntarily stretched the “Puriyalaiye” part a little longer than the original…. I think subconsciously, I was thinking of the “Inji Idduppazhaga” song, where Janaki madam stretches a bit longer on similar words and endings :-)….
@Anbu bro: Thanks very much mate, for your lavish compliments. You are an awesome talent too, and you have a fantastic taste as well….!
Thank you both & kind regards,
Hemanth
