Friends, been wanting to cover a Dev ji song this weekend. However, seeing another fellow Muzibooan uploading a super rendering of this song, I got tempted too, to upload my attempt from an year ago.
Not trying to compete or something…. Just my humble tribute to Dev ji & Rafi Saheb.
This is probably one of the very few gems of Rafi Saheb that I can even try attempting :-) !
Please bear with the mix quality and hiss. This was all pre-Muziboo experience.

Beautiful song Hemanth and you have rendered so well…one of my fav. song though i don’t know the meaning….certain tunes just mesmerizes me…and so it is with Rafi saab’s voice….anything that comes out of his voice is mesmerizing anyway.!!….
I am opening the innings here I guess……wanted to cover this one day….will check my K tracks …if i don’t have, will request you later…….enjoyed your singing…goes to my fav….keep rocking….:)

My honor, thalaivarey :-) ! Glad you liked my humble attempt from the past…. Yes, Rafi saheb’s voice is like a wind instrument indeed :-) !
As to the track, I covered this with the track streamed from the Meragana portal. Don’t know if you know Meragana or not, but it has thousands of fabulous songs, mostly Hindi though. Their Tamil, Telugu, & Mallu collection is unfortunately nowhere compared to their Hindi collection….
So I unfortunately don’t have the track to share with you, but I am sure if you google, you will find umpteen super quality tracks that are downloadable.
I also enjoyed your recent KJY song that glorifies Singapore :-) !

Hemanth….Very nicely done….but since this is a year old recording…I would suggest that you attempt it again….listen to the original many times….get a feel of the voice modulations of rafi saab…i am sure u will rock…i liked this rendition…but feel that u can improve on this with a re-attempt…the voice modulations and masti is the trademark of this song…its just a honest observation.

You are accurate that there’s a lot of room for improvement. I absolutely agree that I can do a much better job in my retake. Without any exaggeration, my M’boo experience past 3 months has enlightened me like crazy on numerous aspects :-) !
Here’s a little story on my (this) cover from an year ago. To my amazement, it was requested by my niece, a young girl in her 20’s….
When I was wondering what to sing to dedicate to Dev ji this week, the same niece’s dad posts a pic on FB that he had taken along with Dev ji in the 1960’s. So it immediately occured to me that I should fuse that pic and my singing and dedicate it back to the father/daughter pair who have some amazing taste for good music.
They both are like you too, Harshan…. They grew up pretty much entirely at Mumbai…. Do check out the vintage pic that I am talking about:

Nice to see you attempt Rafi sahab’s song in your style and voice. Enjoyed it! Nice tribute, Bro! Slowly, try to improve your diction for the sounds like “bha”, “chha” and “kaa”(currently they appear as “ba”, “cha” and ’khaa") I know its not easy to pick Hindi/ Urdu diction (I am still struggling many a times)but give a try.
Liked it a lot.

Immensely valuable tips on my diction part, Adwait ji….!
I always thought my main struggle was with words like AaaYIye and JaaYIye, but as you have now pin-pointed out accurately, I do need to correct all those syllables that require the “ha” stress in them. Rahul bro had also pointed this out in the word “DHun”, in my Chala Jaata hoon" cover.
The information you have passed to me is highly invaluable and motivating for self improvement. It was interesting to note that these Hindi diction challenges are not exclusive to Dravidian mother-toungue alone….
