Poochona Kaise Maine (Hindi) Aahir Bhairav Raag Song 1 of 2 - Hemanth

Poochona Kaise Maine (Hindi... Lyrics & Chords

2011 Nov 6 Cover -

Aahir Bhairav raag seems to be a very exotic Hindustani raag. Love this masterpeiece by Manna Dey da.

Can’t believe this (Padma Vibhushan?) genius tours the world at his ripe age of 90+ and gives concerts :-) ! He visited Singapore recently, but I was unfortunately overseas, and didn’t have the fortune of meeting the genius and of listening to him live :-( !

Please check out my Tamil cover uploaded today (but recorded an year ago). This is yet another masterpiece using the same Aahir Bhairav raag: Ullatthil Nalla Ullam by Seerkhazhi Govindarajan Sir.

DISCALIMER: Please pardon my “Bhor bhi HAATH ki” instead of “Bhor bhi AAS ki” goof up :-). Thanks to Chandra & Naqvi ji for spotting this and correcting me.

Thank you & kind regards,

Hemanth

HEMANTH ji….

Taking the honour of being first here. Nice soulful rendition. You have attempted a very difficult song I must say. Considering your inclination towards such classics, I would suggest a few things. Plz take them in right spirit.
1) Kaise in mukhada and at the end of the stanza have different harkats if you listen to the original.
2) Ghar ka and Nein need still higher notes. You have sung very well and still you would do better if you could take those places.
3) The starting aalaap needs to be corrected.
4) Biten word from jug beetein should be slightly lower.
5) Deephak, Beethein should be pronounced s deepak and Beetein.
6) bhor bhi AAS ki kiran na layi.
Hemanth ji…. In spite of all these pointers, I would say you have made a grrrrrrrrrrr8 attempt, because this is not at all an easy song to render.
If you don’t mind, Please email (cpage58@gmail.com/chandupage@gmail.com) this track to me, I want to go still further to attempt this on instrument.
Regards.

Hi Chandra-ji:

Thanks for the pointers…. Here are some of my excuses ;-) !

(Re. 2) The tracks pitch was a bit high for me, so I tried my best on the high notes.

(Re. 3) I was aware that there might be a little mis-match. I recorded this with very little practice, and with just a couple of runs of the original….

(Re. 6) I knew I was taking a chance. The Meragana streaming I used to sing and record this cover shows it as AA S as you have mentioned. But I thought the original movie version Youtube seemed to pronounce it as “Haath”. So took a chance…. will correct down the road….

Thanks for the rest of the pointers, and I will use them for self improvement.

I used a streaming track from Meragana, as I mentioned in (Re 6) above. So I unfortunately don’t have the track as a file for sharing.

Thanks again for your time.

Kind regards,

Hemanth

Dear Hemant what a song pick….very few would even dare to sing this one….no matter how best one does it will always be compared by folks who have heard original so many times. This is the beauty of this song that every one likes to try and sing but keeps them away from uploading. Bus gana koi bhi gao jab tuk tumko khud poora samajh na aajaye uss waqt tuk practice karo. Sunnay wala ye baat uss waqt pakad lega jab woh Bhor ki aas ki jagha Bhor ki haath sunega. Keep practising and would love to listen again from you.

Dear Naqvi ji,

Thanks for your time and valuable input as always….

On the meaning part, I am unfortunately impaired when it comes to hardcore Hindi or to the slightest of Urdu :-) ! Sometimes I seek assistance from Northy friends. This time, I goofed :-) !!

I have always been singing the word as “aas”, but when I watched the YouTube today, I thought Ashok Kumar’s lip syncing and the word seemed for sure like Haath…. That’s why I took a chance, and I clearly seem to have faltered here, based on the f/b from you & Chandra-ji….

Will try and get the meanings sorted out as much as possible in the future. I know one can emote tremendously better when one fully understands and relates to the entire lyrics….

Thank you sir & kind regards,

Hemanth

Wonderfully sung, Hemant ji. Seldom any one will dare attempt these classics of Legendary Manna ji….
Input on the Diction is listed by others already. So, enjoying your soulful singing.
For minor improvements on singing, upper notes at place like “ghar kaa andheraa” in both antaraas need more attention. I think if you lower the track by a semitone you can enjoy singing this song better.
Hat’s off for this lovely attempt. To my fav’s.

Hat’s of to you………. my friend!! What a tough song you have taken on…… and have rendered it in a very mature manner. I was totally engrossed in your rendition and have not bothered to read any of the comments from our friends BUT all I can say is that I simply loved it. Listening and attempting Manna Dey’s songs to me is like peacefully sitting in a temple for worship or performing a havan.

Hemant Ji, this is one my all time favorite songs of Manna Da! He was a singer of Character Actors as opposed to heros and that is why had a lot more versatality! I have attempted this song many times but always end up comparing to the original and fade in comparision! That is a risk you always take with a song like this. I liked your rendition because I could tell that you sang it with full vigour! There were a few off key and pronounciation issues, but a good performance overall!

Thank you, Rajeev Ji…. The off keys were probably those high notes that I compromised to a little bit. Noted on the diction issues too. I am sure I can render this gem a lot better going forward :-) !

Hemanth Bhai, Kudos for attempting this song. This is a very big song as we all know. Your is a very honest and wonderful take. I am sure you were not trying to mimic the original and sang it in your own style. Some of the deviations from original were evident which if you wish can take care with your next attempt.
You have a great voice. Besides the diction pointers, this is a very enjoyable rendition. Thanks for inviting me here.
