This is my first duet with Srividya. I want to thank her for introducing me to this beautiful song and for singing this with me. I think she has done a splendid job!
As compared to my other covers, I’ve introduced very few (if any) improvisations in this song based on advise I received from people like Dhiraj, Tara etc. Srividya has introduced a few subtle variations which I feel complimented the song beautifully.
Vidya and I would like to thank Soumitra and Vidyu for lending us this karaoke track. Much appreciated guys!!!

George – The song sounds so different in your voice. I loved the way u sang the low notes….the “Ek Meetha Marz….” parts……beautiful!. Felt some issue in the “Sooni sooni raaton mein” part. Not exactly off-note….but something :-) There are some pronunciation issues also. But the expressions and the voice quality are simply excellent!
Vidya – U also sound very different in this one. I loved ur voice here. Amazingly well sung!

No worries about the track anytime for fine singers like you two :) I downloaded the better version to have a listen.
I have heard this song like a million times ! i thought you guys did a good job with this one but honestly it could have been better.
First of all George your low notes were good …i thought you managed them well…kudos to you …….vidyas alaap variation was also very nice ….i really liked it …cld have been easily in the original !
improvements – George – u need to improve your hindi pronunciation coz it affects the overall listening quality of the song….expression level could have been better……a bit more thehrao with a bit more stress on some words eg “chalken” would add a sparkle to your rendition…some end notes eg."rang nahi " sounded a bit harsh maybe because of the vibrato you were trying. Vidya some of your end notes like ‘sawan nahin’ and ‘tum nahin’ sounded a bit harsh too ……what happened to ‘aana yuhi’ after the nice variation of khoye khoye ?
overall u guys did a good job. Keep singing :)

BTW George personally i missed your variations….i think you shd do variations specially with contemporary numbers mainly since very few have heard them . With old classic numbers which are imprinted in people’s minds it is advisable not to do too many variations since it seems u r going out of track to many listeners ! So pls do ur variations and harmonies with new numbers atleast….my 2 cents ofcourse :)

Soumitra – Thanks a lot for the detailed analysis man. Appreciate you taking the time, especially coz you know the song well. As far as your comments about my singing, I agree with all your points – hindi pronunication, the harshness (which is due to the vibratos) and the stress on the words (probably coz i have no clue about what i am singing which is my bad). Will work on all these in future covers.
As far as improvisations, this was more of about me testing myself :-) I wanted to see if I can pull of a cover close to the original. I have a natural tendency to sway and add variations and wanted to see if I can curb that tendency.

Oh man this place is jammed with comments now. Wonderful effort especially by George, coming out of ur norm and singing is really difficult. You did that really well. Loved your base voice in lower registers, very well sung. Sri Vidya I don’t know whether it is becoz I heard this song first in Vidyu’s voice, I felt you both sounded very similar. Can’t say much about the variations, becoz this is the second time I am hearing this song. George I like your pronunciation, there were no issues with it, but you lacked in feel man, again becoz of your unfamiliarity with hindi. But an awesome job by both of you.
