Dil Chahta Hai - Ver 2
Dil Chahta Hai - Ver 2 Lyrics & Chords
One of the best Hindi movies that is really apt for my generation. This song is so freaking COOL. No better word to describe it. I am a huge fan of Shankar Mahadevan and this is probably one of his best tracks that showcases his versatility.
This was a lot tougher to sing than I thought initially. The mix is a little different. I decided to experiment a bit with chorus effects etc.
Waiting to hear what all you folks think.
UPDATE:
I made a few changes based on all the feedback. I redid the high parts (this time open throated). I also redid jagmathehey…… portion.
Best,
George

Great as always…. who did the sequencing btw? Or is it a Karaoke track? The Dooba Dooba sounds little bit strained, and goes out of ctrl. But overall, great!

Hii George,
Gud effort….I guess ur low notes were a bit shaky n ‘dooba dooba’ was flat in sum places….I do agree its a very difficult song….but u have done gr8 job……

Hi George….
Just your type of song…I loved your rendition. Slight off pitch notes were there, though did not find them so distracting….
What I felt more was the lack of the punch needed in this song. Even in the high notes, your strength normally, you were controlling yourself….not opening up….
Overall very good.

hey,
this sounds cool man. the effect on “jagmagaate hain” part made the vocals sound off-key a bit, the first time i heard it atleast. maybe u should put in some female falsetto harmonies over it to offset that. um… not sure. :D
cheers!

Really nice George. This is perfect for your voice and singing style. Pretty good track. I am not sure about the effects on ‘jagmagaate hain’ – may be it was best to leave it alone or try something different. Dooba Dooba could be more powerful I thought. Overall I liked it a lot.

One thing i admire about you,George is the kind of songs you select …i think u know ur strengths and limitations too well…I definitely think that this song was kinda tailor made for you…I felt the higher notes were perfect….no complaints about that…The harmony was cool too….Goes to my favourites!!

Hey, good job George. There were slight off notes in the chorus part etc, but overall a very good job. Like someone else has mentioned here, I feel that you have controlled at the high notes where the “dooba hamesha samaa” (am sure you would be able to bring the high notes perfectly considering your vocal range :-) ). Sing more Shankar Mahadevan songs. Hey, how about “Mitwa” from KANK?

Good One George! But that “jag magaate hain” part was not at all like an effect added for beautification.

To all,
Thank you very much for your feedback. One thing is clear from all your comments. The experimentation I did with effects on “jag magaathe hain….” did not work. It is also clear that most of you think that the dooba dooba part sounded restrained. I normally sing those portions open throated. But on this song I went into falsettos and thats probably why you feel that way.
I really appreciate all of you taking time and listening to my song and providing such valuable feedback. This is exactly why I love muziboo – THE COMMUNITY!!!
I will make the changes based on all your feedback and post an updated version soon.
Thanks again!!!!

George,
of course very pleasant but i wud mention problems….
I won’t agree with statement that experimentation didn’t work out….You are allowed to do the experimentation….but off keys were clearly opened while listening normally also….need to take care of the flats….when u try experiment
In the start,
- chamaKIle din was off….
- din din BHar ho was wrongly pronounced
- milati rahi khushiya was wrong…it should be milati RAHEY khushiya
few more flat i saw in the song….when its very easy and slow….its very dangerous to sing….

One of your best Hindi songs, i didn’t had any issues with your diction, i know how hard it is to sing Sankar’s songs, his range is way too much. There are minor hiccups in some places, I didn’t like the way you said “Jaga Magathey Hai”, but a very commendable job. You captured the mood perfectly. Keep them coming man.

Feel was very good in the song….high notes need some attention….Is it ‘milti rahi’ or ‘milti rahe’ ? overall i enjoyed it :) Keep singing :)

George ….a little late here.
Very nice attempt on an extremly difficult song. I liked the feel of this rendition.
But I would not rate this as one of your best hindi renditions …as others have pointed out …the punch was lacking a bit ….and also milti rahe needed some work.I am sure you are going to soon come out with an improved version ….:-)

Wow…those high notes were so nice now in your revised version. Now I feel I am hearing the real George. :)
The punch which I was talking about was also there to some extent in this. If you could do away with those few off key notes here and there, it would be great…
Despite all these I would still rate this song of yours as brilliant…

What a version!!! Just love it. So much of a rock vocalist feel to the whole song. Just the way you put in that little bit of vibrato in a few places.
Kaisa ajab yeh safar hai……. those four lines sound so melodious, and yet, it’s a rock vocalist singing, if you go by the feel.
George, you kick some very serious butt as a singer.
Try the ‘Rock On’ title track please.

Well George, it was good but not upto your standard. Probably the experimentation backfired a bit, but I agree with Shashank above that that its always healthy to experiment. I didn’t hear ver 1, but I still find your singing ‘dooba dooba’ restrained and held back. The ‘jagmagatey hain’ line was offnote.
Overall 4/5 from me, bearing in mind your previous performances!
