Things to include in a song description

Those of you who are familar with photography are familiar with EXIF info. Basically it gives us all the camera settings when a particular picture was taken (aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc).

On a similar note, what is the bare minimum that should be included in a song description?
Heres what I think should be included:

1. Brief Intro
2. Original song credits
3. Lyrics:

In addition, for those of you who mix your own songs, it might be worthwhile to include the software used, and any specific effects you’ve used (eg: compression, reverb and any other special settings). This will really benefit the others I feel.

Lets get a good discussion out of this…

Agree with you George. When we try to cover a song or do an original song, there is always a story behind that or some other inspiration, which makes you attempt that song. It’s always good if we share this in the background. Besides, for the benefit of users, it will be good to share the effects used in song making.

Azam,
While I agree with you on most points, I feel posting the lyrics really helps as the users go through each line as they listen, especially for songs that they are not familiar with. Posting a link is good too, but its not the same as having it available right there. I have seen this being the case especially with my western covers. Also many a times, it is a message I am trying to convey and the message is ingrained in the lyrics.

For cover songs, including the lyrics might violate the songwriter’s copywrite, unless you’ve licensed the song, that is.
