This is one of top 5 Rafi songs I like. One of my school mate Iqbal, whose voice was quite similar to Rafi Sahab…. I always used to request him to sing this number in our cultural programmes.
You sang it beautifully. The harkats taken at “Hoton” were mind blowing. “Chhoo” was not very clear somehow. 5/5

I sense a strange melancholy in this Rafi’s romantic masterpiece. It sounds kind of ‘sad’ – an unpleasant reminder of pankaj udhas who has this habit of making every song sound sad irrespective of its meaning.

Very nicely sung! Sounded effortless and expressive. Coming to the mood of the song, its not romantic. Raj Kumar is drunk when singing this and Meena Kumari is crying, so it is kind of a sad song :-) 5/5.

NVK sir, felt the mixing could have been a bit better, but your singing was really good, doesnt sound like a 2 year old song, I like the way you paused a bit at some words, gave a new feel to the song.

My apologies if the song did have a melancholic overtone and have I not understood it. I stop to wonder why then Rafi would start with some kind of an expression bordering on ‘love-play’ as in teasing.

NVK sir …I am on vacation …checking these from the hotel room.

Very nice singing …this song is all about mixed emotions. Rafi saab really portrays this feeling of a drunk man with precision. There are some words where u can hear words lagging …deliberately done by the maestro. It also has its melonchaly , some nasha ….and off course some tone of happiness. The nasha part was missing in this rendition.

To drink or not to drink… :-)))
When I heard the original without watching the video I had no idea that alcohol was part of the equation at all! But when I watched the YouTube version, I understood from the scene and Raaj Kumar’s acting that he was intoxicated.
Once again…you sang very well … I felt all angles were covered and there was enough melancholy for me that captured the mood of the song and more than enough intoxication in your voice NVK saab!

Brilliant as usual! Loved it……
Just a minor observation about the diction of “CHH” that sounded like “CH” at almost all places. It’s “Chhoo lene do”, not “Choo lene do”. But again as you know it’s a minor stuff and does not take away the beauty of your version.
