Back Home in Derry Lyrics & Chords

Recorded originally by Christy Moore on the Ride On album 1984, he had taken a poem called The Voyage written by Bobby Sands, (not to be confused with a later song Christy Moore recorded of that name)and put it to the music of a Gordon Lightfoot song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The song describes the journey of a deportee from Ireland to Australia and New Zealand after the Robert Emmet rebellion in 1803.

And of course…his desire to be back home in Derry.
