In 2009, I retired from a career at Valley View Centre (Moose Jaw) as a psychologist working with people with intellectual disabilities.
I grew up in a musical family and learned the cello starting at age 9. Dad was Coordinator of Music for the Regina Board of Education and conducted several orchestras. I was able to play in the Junior and Inter-collegiate orchestras, as well as the Saskatchewan Youth orchestra. In Grade 10 I began as a community member with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and left when I began my career in 1975.
Since then I’ve mainly played in worship teams (e.g., church, camps, and Christian conferences), weddings and school musicals. Since retiring, I’ve been presenting a repertoire of easy-listening cello music for seniors, schools, weddings, and other small groups (e.g., fundraisers).
