CutshawKane is a music composition and production company specializing in music for film and various media productions. Partners, Chris Ferree and Brad Hord, are long time friends and musicians who have collaborated on many musical ventures for over twenty years. Throughout those years, they have also shared a passion for film. In fact, the name, “CutshawKane”, is based on the two lead characters from one of their favorite films, “The Ninth Configuration”, written and directed by William Peter Blatty. It was this passion for film that led them to begin scoring for film in 2007.
Approaching an original score from two different but complimentary directions works well for Ferree and Hord. While one is concentrating more on the structural aspect, the other is approaching it from more of an emotional and sonic angle. The end result is a unique composition that neither Hord nor Ferree would have created alone.
The music of CutshawKane has been featured in feature films and shorts of every genre. Their styles include orchestral, ambient, synth, acoustic, electronic and the list goes on.
Ferree and Hord truly believe that the film score is a collaborative effort. Not just between the filmmaker and the composer, but from everyone involved with the film. Each person brings something to the film that influences how CutshawKane as composers interpret the score. And that collaborative spirit is probably the most valuable asset that CutshawKane brings to the table.
