Ever since I’ve watched this movie I’ve grown an unusual liking for this song! The tune is so simple, soothing and catchy……I just love this one!
The idea of covering this one came into my mind when I accidentally bumped into a track in Youtube with only the female part! The female vocals are done by Harper Jade(Well this is her user name….dunno whether it is her real name or not!)
I thought she is a brilliant singer with an extraordinary sweet voice….you’ll know once you listen to this one….and thus making it difficult for me to sing along! At first I thought it would really sound weird….with different accents(Please forgive my accent….can’t really capture the original British accent and really had hard time in keeping pace with the female vocals)!
I’ve tried to mix the track in manner so that to bring a level of homogeneity in the entire song(Since the two vocals are recorded under different recording setups)!
So please give your honest feedback about this song….and also the mix!

Supratim – beautiful song and well sung too. Spotted a mild off at your first “some”. In the mix, felt that your vocal level is not consistent – but then am no expert at mixing. The blending of singing (at 3:42 )with the female vocal could have been better. Good attempt, Supratim.

All I can say, Supratim, is that this has been a great attempt by you. Very well sung and I understand mixing was not easy but it’s been a very close observation by Radhika and others and they are to the point. But, like I said, I guess, you did your best with the mix. Keep it up, bro. Great going……

Good job Supratim! I like you song pick and execution for the most part :)
In terms of improvement, the main problem was the scale. The scale of this song was too low for you and hence you couldn’t be as expressive. The lack of expressions is more obvious coz the female vocals are VERY expressive. Mix could have been better too. But the important thing is to keep doing what you love, and you are!

I knew this would sound a little weird…… and obviously there is a lot of scope for improvement with this song! As a matter of fact, the female vocals are just too good…… but again it would have been very cowardly for me to not to try this one! So I did……and as always expected flaws noted! I’ll definitely try to got over the pointed flaws and will surely try again to re-surface with a better version!
This is my very earnest request to the listeners who would follow to give me some more scope for improvement!

Hey Supratim,
Female vocals are no doubt brilliant, though the recording quality is not as good as yours… but the mixing made everything sound quite in place (though cannot comment on the technical aspects)…
As far as singing is concerned, it did not sound weird to me atall…! i think you did a v good job… a comparison with female vocalist would be a bit unfair because of the contrast in accent more that anything else… this was very much within her comfort zone, and i guess tht’s what made her score more than you, but your attempt was excellent without a doubt… 5/5 for the courage to move out of your comfort zone, even the best are scared to dare :) cheers!

Neha….I am really glad that you liked it……And did you just said my recording quality is better??? Well I am using a standard internet chat mic now……for this recording….hers was far better than mine….she used a large diaphragm condenser mic…….that means some true professional stuff……It took me alot of effort to mix it….so that hers and mine can camouflage….but as George and others said, could have been better. I can’t come up with a better version now. You won’t believe my semester exams are on run! I managed to squeeze some time and finished the recording….and i am glad that you guys loved this anyways! Once the exams are over….I promise a better version of this one….and many songs on waiting list and obviously something Desi!!!

Well her voice sounded a bit muffled to me… urs was clearer and sharper… maybe I’m wrong… m a rookie at this anyway (as u knw)… i judge a song in a very layman-ish way, plainly by how it sounds to my ears :)
Anyway all the best for ur exams… and its always ok to squeeze some time in for music… its worth it I guess, a good way to refresh oneself :D do well haan, and keep posted :)

Sure dear! And hey Even I am a Layman…….As a matter of fact, I told earlier that i mixed the song to bring some parity….in the process made her voice sound that way!
6 Months ago when I joined muziboo……I knew nothing….nothing at all! I recorded my first song with a mp3 player…….along with track being played on a music system! It sounded……what you would call….you can’t name it[:-)](Well that recording is history now….got it removed within 10 days)!
Next I started recording songs on my pc….using audacity! I used my stereo out port for recording the vocals and tracks simultaneously….and after the mix those sounded muddy and low in quality!
Thanks to George and others around…who gave time to time advices and enthusiasm…that i am recording my songs far more efficiently now….though this is not the end….not even half the way!

I have a similar story… just that I still haven’t removed the first recording of my life that I did four months bak when i joined Muziboo (Kabhi Kabhi), using the Muziboo sound recorder :D
