Muziboo celebrates its 1st B’Day

July 9, 2008 · Posted in Policy, anniversary, redesign

Muziboo is a year old now! The first song on Muziboo went live the same day a year back and a lot has happened since then. With the various changes introduced now, you might almost wonder if you landed on the right place at all! But don’t worry it’s your same old friendly hang-out :)  Do read on to know what exactly has changed

Design

The redesign is both cosmetic & functional and had been executed to provide a better user experience in terms of ‘look & feel’, navigation and content discovery. The two dimensions of Muziboo ‘Music’ and ‘Community’ are made separate entry points. The ‘Music’ page is specifically designed to showcase the 10 best songs of the previous week. This chart is based on a smart algorithm which mines the most interesting content of the week considering various factors like play-count, rating, favoriting and comments (excluding duplicate ones and the ones made by the author of the song). All user-activities including comments and group discussions are moved to the ‘Community page’. Kindly post all your songs to relevant ‘groups’ for easy discovery.

Policy

Uploading in Muziboo is free up-to 20 songs. Beyond that, users have to upgrade their accounts to ‘pro’ membership which is a yearly subscription of $25.95. For users who have already exceeded the 20 song limit, the cap will be set to ‘number of songs uploaded + 5′. For example, if a user already has 21 uploads, his/her cap would be at 21+ 5 which is 26. Beyond 26, the user has to upgrade his/her account.

The policy change has been brought in, to make Muziboo a sustainable platform inspite of the growth in user base and activity. We extend our thanks to George Kuruvilla, Radio Idli, Sudeip Ghosh, Nitin Dubey, Suresh Bhagavatula, Abhishek Narayan, Shashank Gokhle, Muzicast, Devkinandan Tokekar and  Arun Raja in welcoming this change by upgrading their memberships to ‘pro’ during beta.

Muziboo is committed to provide you  with a better experience. Do stay tuned for an Orkut application to showcase your music  and other exciting monthly contests!

You can also post your feed-backs in the official thread.

    Dear Admin,

Congrates for the first birthday and contribution towards a good social network.

May muziboo have many more like these. It is important for admin to decrease the premium charges from 25 to any place down as people are working without any finances to create such songs.

You need to charge amount to those who download it.

Hearty Congratulations to “MUZIBOO” on its 1st B’Day. I consider myself to be lucky to have been a member of this prestigeous site promoting music & the talents of its members.
As commented by Asad above, it would be apt to charge those who download the songs. Uploading is to be made free so as to promote more & more talents. Please do consider this.
    GOD Bless !
    Loving Best Wishes !

    Hi Thinkal

Thanks for the comment. I replied to Asad in the official thread. We will have a store soon where artists can make money. Currently you have to pay only above 20 uploads

    Regards
    Prateek
