Every one of us has long been aware of the power of the web and most creative musicians work it to their advantage. Nine Inch Nails is one of the most quoted bands that has successfully done an online launch. All serious musicians have the enthusiasm and talent to create an album, but not always the required resources to make a website to launch it online or the patience to go the ‘Record label’ way.
Muziboo’s Album feature is exactly an attempt to bridge this gap and let every one of you leverage the internet to the hilt.
If launching an album is what you have been looking for, just upload your tracks to Muziboo and create an album. Once you create, you can
Upload a cool cover art
Post songs to it and re-order them
Embed it onyour blog or Myspace profile and
Get reviews (comments) on your album
To give you an idea of what the page looks like, I have posted a screen shot below.
Very soon Muziboo will have album downloads (including cover art and description) and the ability for musicians to charge for those downloads. The best part is instead of shipping Cds, you can just pass on the link to your album page to spread your music.
Jab se dekha hai tujhe, a composition by Mohit has been getting a lot of attention lately on Muziboo. You wouldn’t be surprised if you listened to it. If you have not already checked it out, do it now and you will agree that this is no song with fancy frills. The tune has a refreshing simplicity and is sung straight from the heart.
Another interesting fact is that, this number is chosen to be one of the 8 songs for the Tata Indicom compilation - Suno Dil Ki Aawaaz, launching various upcoming artists. The album is being released by Tata Indicom on 1st May, 2009 at Sri Fort Auditorium, Delhi where Mohit will be performing live.
Do check out his profile and don’t forget to leave your feedback and appreciation in form of a comment. Its not very easy to come up with a simple composition that can win so many hearts. Mohit has just managed to do that.
After some days of private testing, we have launched a public beta of Facebook Connect. You can now see a login with Facebook button next to login/signup button.
Once you login with Facebook and connect your account, you can
* Use Facebook to login to Muziboo * Post your activity (comments, favorites, uploads) back on Facebook as news feeds that your friends can see and interact with.
You can change FB Connect settings and also link your account (if you are already loggedin) from your “Edit Account” page.
Since this is a beta, we would love to hear your feedback or help you out if you face any issues.
Lately, we have been working on Facebook Connect for Muziboo and its in private beta right now. Once launched, you will be able to login to Muziboo using Facebook and post your Muziboo activity (uploads, comments, favorites) back to Facebook as news feeds that your friends can see. This will help in getting more visibility for your music and is generally very cool
Below is a screenshot of my facebook homepage showing a feed about my latest favorite on Muziboo. You (or your friends) can click on the play button and listen to the song right in facebook. You will be able to post the same kind of feeds for your latest uploads and comments too.
The feature should go live in a couple of weeks but if you are interested in trying out the integration right now, just drop me a scribble.
We have a similar integration for Twitter that can check out here
We now support Gravatar, the quick and easy way to have your profile picture on the internet. If you don’t know or have not used Gravatar before, read more about it here
So if you have a gravatar setup already and you have not uploaded a profile picture on Muziboo, we will show your gravatar for you.
We just released a feature that allows re-ordering of your music on Muziboo. It lets you decide the order in which your music shows on your profile page and music page. You can even embed your re-ordered list on your blog to showcase your best music to your fans.
We have started a group discussion about this feature where you can add your feedback or questions. You can also write to us at contact AT muziboo.com in case you face any problems.
We have just launched a couple of cool features and will be launching re-ordering (for songs) soon.
You can now disable commenting on your song by editing your song and checking a checkbox called “Disable Commenting”. We have also included a “Tweet This” button on every song page so you can tweet any song in one click.
We are also soon launching music reordering so you can display songs in whatever order you want in your music page. This would only change the default listing and the other options would still be there on left side of your music page.
There is also another minor change. If you click on your profile name or profile pic while you are loggedin, you will not be redirected to your homepage. I think it was confusing a lot of people
