Because the usual progression is: In the scale of D major,

A (Or sometimes indeed D) —> E —> F# —> Bm

i.e., after F# usually it has to end at the relative minor. But you rather left it open at F#… gives a quizzical feel… and a hitherto novel perception to the listener…

Secondly, you can also apply the pizzicato at the half timing… it will sound even nicer (at least for me)… i.e., on a count of 1 2 3, you are using the pizzicato on the counts 2 and 3;
This can be one variant…

The second variant can be applying Pizzicato on the count 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 (i.e., count “1 and 2 and 3 and” instead of “1 2 3” and place the pizzicato on all the ‘and’. It will give a rapid feel even with the same tempo and will take away the calm… but nonetheless will make a very interesting prospect…
