Can we have way for listeners to rate comments

My personal view is-we should rate music and not the comments on the music,as it will tantamount deviating from the main focus of this community… Obviously we dont want users waking up and logging on to Muziboo only to see what has happened to their comments but not the music on which they commented in the first place!

Interesting idea. In some ways its good, coz the most popular comments show up at the top and hence it makes it easier for someone else to find them. The flipside is that sometimes, comments have a certain flow, one responding to another. So it might make sense to leave em as is in those cases.

Looking at it from a different angle, if we started rating comments we would introducing a double edged sword, it will encourage some to comment more and post more relevant stuff instead of the usual “very good” or “loved it”, but it might also detract some from commenting all together.

So maybe a hybrid version? We can put a thumbs up or thumbs down next to the comment, but not reorder the comments?

IMO, feedback from the community is important for the performer alone. Personally, i wouldnt care much to rate how good or bad someone is at commenting on others – would rather focus on the music and the artist am listening to. And the rating feature woudlnt change the quality of constructive feedback one way or the other, i feel.

IMHO, Critiquing helps the artist to work on the faults while rating gives them an idea where they stand in terms of giving a best shot :-). In my case, whose learning and presenting curve has just begun, the rating does give me a boost, but most of all the sincere comments helps the most :-)

I have also noticed that most commented songs are not necessarily the most commented :-) meaning, when the artist sends out 20 TQ notes to 20 comments, it adds up to 40 comments.
