He transitioned beautifully from Hindi to Malayalam in the 80s. And this was made possible by the director Hariharan who made some beautiful movies like Panchagni. Although I got to see the movie much later after it was made, I was really moved by the story line and the brilliant performances. And the music – 2 songs – SaagarangaLE and aa raatri maanju pOyi were just absolutely wonderful melodies enshrining the voices of Yesudas and Chitra individually.
This is the second song in the series of the songs that my mom has requested me to sing. Hope you like it. Meera helped mixing this so well. I think it may not be wrong to call her “Mixer Meera” ( a la Sixer Sidhu) :)
And ya…Sindhu, to your exasperation – another Sudhdha dhanyaasi number :)

From an improvement perspective – Provided you dont think that am still getting back at you on diction :) – would like to point out a couple of them which stood out – saagarangaLE (the le needs to be softer), pinnilavinTE & kannimanninTE(maybe its a mouthing issue-need to open out when you say nte). Also its kaiviral paaDUkal in second charanam. However, on some of the tough words like thazhuki, you sounded just like one of us!!

Very nicely and comfortably sung Murali. Soft and good nuances. Voice was a bit low in the mix to my ears. Everlasting melody which you have sung with a unique touch. Nice!.

I remember this song very well playing my boards in a mallu orchestra where the original keyboardist was unavail I was not familiar to this song then. But the orchestration is simple enough for me to pick up this song and couple of other songs like "nee madhu pagaru " etc in few minutes. this was at 1996 in gulf. You took me back to those days . you have done a good job murali……very nice. I am nowadays in to the guitars would love to play this song in my guitar and post it. Could u post this krk to me murali ? Meeras mixing is also good….muralis good source tracks yeilds good results….and its a pleasure to do with.Maruthi

One of my favourites ……Murali very good attempt as its a difficult song. Would have to agree that the scale was a bit low for you …could feel that in the 2nd paadhi and the samha following it. IMO …you could have sung this at a little higher scale. Nevertheless this was a great performance…keep it up !!

I didn’t like the rendition very much. Technically it might be really good. But it was appealing only at a few places to my ears. Every time you sang “Saama geethame”, the voice modulation you have bought there was making me lose interest. These are all my humble views from a pure audience perspective and with respect to the popularity of this song.

heard this on my headphone.noticed that the Vocals have been spaced outside the track……was it deliberate?normally the lead vocals will be kept at the centre ……I am not picking on this….but just wanna learn :)thanks
