ಸಾವಿನೊಂದು ವೇಣಿ
ನೆರೆತಿದೆ, ಬೆರೆತಿದೆ, ಕುಣಿವ ಮೊರೆವ
ತೆರೆತೆರೆಗಳೋಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ
ಜನನಮರಣಗಳ ಉಬ್ಬುತಗ್ಗು ಹೊರ
ಳುರುಳಾಟವಲ್ಲಿ !

ಆಶೆಬೂದಿತಳದಲ್ಲು ಕೆರಳುತಿವೆ
ಕಿಡಿಗಳೆನಿತೋ ಮರಳಿ,
ಮುರಿದು ಬಿದ್ದ ಮನಮರದ ಕೊರಡೊಳೂ
ಹೂವು ಹೂವು ಅರಳಿ !
ಕೂಡಲಾರದೆದೆಯಾಳದಲ್ಲು
ಕಂಡೀತು ಏಕಸೂತ್ರ;
ಕಂಡುದುಂಟು ಬೆಸೆದೆದೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ
ಭಿನ್ನತೆಯ ವಿಕಟಹಾಸ್ಯ !

ಆಶೆಯೆಂಬ ತಳವೊಡೆದ ದೋಣಿಯಲಿ
ದೂರತೀರಯಾನ;
ಯಾರ ಲೀಲೆಗೋ ಯಾರೋ ಏನೋ ಗುರಿ
ಯಿರದೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಬಾಣ !
ಇದು ಬಾಳು ನೋಡು; ಇದ ತಿಳಿದನೆಂದರೂ
ತಿಳಿದ ಧೀರನಿಲ್ಲ;
ಹಲವುತನದ ಮೈಮರೆಸುವಾಟವಿದು;
ನಿಜವು ತೋರದಲ್ಲ !

ಬೆಂಗಾಡು ನೋಡು ಇದು; ಕಾಂಬ ಬಯಲುದೊರೆ
ಗಿಲ್ಲ ಆದಿ-ಅಂತ್ಯ;

Crying sea

A smiling elfin sail, hovering over the sea of tears:
In the river of life, there lies a stream of death at the greater bay.

It is those splitting, topsy-turvy dancing rhythms in its streams,
Over the ups and downs of birth and death, in the place of unrest.

Underneath those ashes of desire, raises the fire sparks over the surface:
The flowers bloom in the fallen tree of a soul.

In the depth of diverged souls, a converging revelation:
There ascertains an ironic farce amidst the soul mates.

In the wrecked boat of desire, destined a long voyage to the banks of hopes,
And in someone’s relic, someone else spurts a misdirected hit.

This is the life, I know someone dares, and there isn’t a champion claiming it.
It is full of compulsive games that yet elude truth.

The barren vast land upfront stand testimony to the endless terrain of the king
Yet conquering all that does not turn one content.

Walking in all the murky glow, in the cycle of life, we forget humility;
Destined to scatter in the greater pool of death.
