Ei Je Nodi (Dry Vocals) Bengali Cover

Ei Je Nodi (Dry Vocals) Ben... Lyrics & Chords

Dear Friends,

A few days back Sree suggested to post our dry vocals. Many of the fellow Muzibians participated in this effort like Jenefa, Khan bhai, Madhukar Ji, Paras Di and Sree himself and the kind of response each of them got gives me a lot of confidence to post my dry vocals on this beautiful song. Sree introduced this song to me and I instantly loved it. Its a haunting melody originally sung by KishoreDa. You can listen the original here:)

The language Bengali was difficult at start but then we have Sarmi who helped me with the diction:) I also heard the original by KishoreDa many times to learn and get the diction correct.
After many attempts, here goes my final take:) This is a 2 take recording, one for each antaras:)

Just my raw dry vocals with the track with no effects whatsoever:) I would like to ask my Bengali friends on this forum to be strict with me on the diction in this song because I had put in a lot of effort to get it right. An appreciation on that front will be more satisfying:) Hope you all like it.

The mixed version of this song is posted below.

Ae Je Nodi Mixed Version

I could not get hold of the english translation for the 1st antara. I hope some of our Bengali friends here would help me compile it for the first antara for everyone to enjoy the complete song and its meaning:)

Lyrics and English Translation

Mukhda

Ei je nodi jai shagore
(Here’s this river that goes to the sea)

Koto kotha shudhai tare
(It has so many stories)

Eto jane tobu nodi kotha bole na
(It knows so much but it still doesn’t say anything)

Kothabole na
(Doesn’t say anything )

Kano bole na, kano bole na
(Why does it not [say anything]?)

Ei je nodi
(Here’s this river)

1st Antara

Keu jaere bondhur bari, Nao baiyan ujaane

Keu shakha bhainga shidur, Dhuiya fire bhatir taane

Karo ashar tori bondhu, Paenare kinara

Bhalobasha moron hoiya, Kare kore ishara

Eto jane tobu nodi kotha bole na
(It knows so much but it still doesn’t say anything)

Kothabole na
(Doesn’t say anything )

Kano bole na, kano bole na
(Why does it not [say anything]?)

Ei je nodi
(Here’s this river)

2nd Antara

Karo kopal bhange jemon nodi bhange tar kul
(Some people’s luck runs out on them like the river overflows its banks)

Shara jhibon jhoira tobu bhange na tar bhul
(All through their lives, however, they don’t realize their mistakes)

Bhyathar bishe oshru mishe jeno bhalobasha hoy
(Remember that in the mingling of pain and tears you will find love)

Keu akule kul pai re karo bhouradubi hoi
(Some find their moorings with no land in sight whereas some others drown)

Eto jane tobu nodi kotha bole na
(It knows so much but it still doesn’t say anything)

Kothabole na
(Doesn’t say anything )

Kano bole na, kano bole na
(Why does it not [say anything]?)

Ei je nodi
(Here’s this river)

Nicely done brother…. though I dont understand Bengali but got melody being rendered…. this somehow seemed like a persian melody but very enjoyable. I though didn’t get you guys idea of posting raw vocals….everything could be easily get even with mixed effects…. so why bother? Anyhow keep up like that.

Best of Luck!!!

Thanks Paras Di. Now that you mentioned it, Yes it does resembles tune of ‘do lafzon ki’:) Glad you liked the effort:)

Wazif bhai – Thanks a ton for ur lovely feedback. Well we are just encouraging the people who are not proficient in the mixing area with this whole exercise. And also to break down the monotony on this forum where everyone post thier mixed songs. Some change is what we all need and this whole exercise of posting dry vocals is a part of it. Glad you liked my effort.

Thanks Sudha Ji for that great, most awaited feedback. Coming from a trained singer like you means a lot to me. I feel so embarrassed to have not learnt music even though my parents forced me into a music school and I caved out:) But still tries to do my best in every song. Glad you liked the kharaj notes. It was very low and I literally had 2nd thoughts of singing this one for dry vocal season but I was sure that all my friends are so supportive here that they would still be appreciative enough:) Thanks for liking and fav both dry and mixed vocals:) Will work on bettering the ending someday:)
