Which is a good microphone

Hi guys, i’d like to know about a good microphone which might be available in india.

I am not sure but my research has ended on 2 microphones
1) Shure Beta 58A supercardioid dynamic mic.
2) Audio Technica AT2035

Both are good based on the overall ratings. Any idea which one is better amongst both? And is there any possibility to get these in india somehow?

Hello Aditya,

I found the Samson-G-track-USB Condenser mic as a pretty good one for home recording…See if this helps you. I’m not sure if it is available in India!

Good luck!

Jenefa thanks for the information. How much does this cost? Based on the Zzsound.com reviews this rates at 8 on 10 which is pretty good. However the above mentioned shure and audio technica rate at 10 on 10. But pretty costly both almost standing at 150-160usd. However i see an advantage in samson G-track that it has an inbuilt audio interface and a mixer.

Aditya,

It costs around 150 euro.

In my personal experience, i found this mic wonderful coz this has a feature to connect the headphone directly to the mic,so i was happy enough to listen to my voice directly without latency issues, clear recording!! So i think for the beginners to just start with a laptop, head phone and a good mixing software, this mic is quiet handy and supportive. Also it comes with a good software, Cakewalk Sonar (i’m yet to learn)….

I’m a novice in this area, anyway! There’s lots of professionals and upcoming musicians here who will be able to guide you in a right way :)

Just thought of sharing my views…

Cheers!

Jenefa,

Thanks for your views. I really appreciate it. I am myself a novice and planning to upgrade from my laptop mic to a professional mic. The features you have mentioned coupled together looks quite attractive to me. However i am waiting for some other people to give their feedback. Also i havn’t found samson here in india anyway.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Aditya

What are you going to use the microphone for? Recording at home, performing on stage, podcasts?

I personally own a Shure sm 58 and a condenser mic Sterling ST 51. I switch back and forth depending on the song. The condenser mic is great except that it picks up anything even your neighbours dog barking….with great precision :)

According to a prolonged search…. I found out that AKG Perception 220 condensor is one of the best around the low ranged mics…. & Its available in India. In AKG website you can find International distributers for India….& if you can call them they have many francises in other cities aswell…. Or else a Sure sm58 would be the best deal for Dynamic mics I guess….

Regards,
Shampak.
